[Ordinarily she wouldn't make a first impression like this. After all, one must show off ones cute side. But right now she's upset. Very upset. So upset her eyes've turned red without her noticing it. Just one of those things from her past life. A past life she most definitely doesn't appreciate, horrifying as her memories had been.

She'd already discovered the Network while trying to Google up the strange number she'd gotten stuck in her head, but hadn't made a post just yet as she read it trying to get a sense of what's going on. She got just enough to realized that this thing was being used by those Numbered folks. She's not sure why it exists or why she can access it now, but she does know one thing: she's upset.]

What's going on? Why am I getting terrible fucked up memories? Why did I get a fucked up knife? And now I have freaky cat ears, too! And I can make a weirdo force field.

Am I one of those Numbered freaks now? Aren't you the guys whose fault it's the aliens invaded? Why'm I one of you now?

And what's with the gross slimy stuff? Is that you guys' fault, too?

I was homeschooled until I was 14, and then I attended Locke City University and earned my Bachelor's in criminal justice. I had to drop out a semester before I earned my Master's.

I don't know about that. But it has exactly nothing to do wtih being happy.

In my experience, if you ask someone if they'd rather be smart or happy and they say they'd rather be smart, it's because they don't know what real unhappiness is and they've been fortunate enough to never experience it.

Well, why can't one be both smart and happy?

It's not impossible, but if you've heard the phrase "ignorance is bliss", there's probably something to that.

Yeah, I've heard that cliche. I dunno really. I have many good points, but being a genius isn't one.

Trust me, it sounds a lot cooler in theory than it is in practice, and not much of a precursor for happiness or success.

What are your good points? From your perspective.

I'm cute, stylish, good at acting, and cute.

Why to look handsome! You've got the face and build for it, but you have to do something about that unhealthy look you've got going on. I can give you tips. Also, you need to neaten up that hair of yours, unless there's some weird freak Numbered magic making it that way like with this girl with a halo. Oh, yeah, and you need better clothes.

He's too pale and skinny, his hair is a mess, and his clothing favors close-fitting dark pieces that only make him look more severe and unapproachable. He likes skinny jeans, zippers, safety pins, studs, buckles, and chains. He wears steel-toed boots. His whole aesthetic is more "post-apocalyptic Hot Topic hipster" than "attractive young professional."]
