Echo Incursion 01 - Jurassic Gateway (August 10th, 2016)

It's a particularly hot day in the Gateway City zoo. What else could you expect? It's not like it's not to be expected, it is the middle of August, after all. But there's plenty of things to see here at the zoo, and the visitors' center is air conditioned well enough.

Just a normal summer day in a typical summer vacation spot. Right?

Well, that's when things change. Those in the visitor's center would find the building changing around them. There's suddenly a dinosaur skeleton in the middle of the place, with the banner "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth" hanging from the ceiling.

That's not all. The animal enclosures are now different. What used to be a pen for the african elephants now has very large, very long necked reptiles in it. A gigantic, meat-eating dinosaur just tromped its way out of the lion habitat it's too much too large for, and unfortunately for the people around it, its vision is based on movement. The monkey house? Well, those are velociraptors breaking out of it. The aviary? Now filled with particular aggressive flying pterosaurs.

These are just some of the creatures making their sudden emergence, and it's not long until they spill out of the zoo and into the city proper. Dinosaurs are now walking the streets of Gateway City.

Yes, indeed. Just a normal summer day.

... Well, it looks like her moment of triumph is about to be tragically cut off as she finds herself wrapped up in a lashing shoelace.

"Hey!" She gives a sharp cry as she's suddenly yanked downward. She's right behind it as it goes crashing to the ground, although she at least manages to coordinate herself enough to land on her feet.

Thinking quickly, she reaches out and grabs onto the shoelace with both hands, pulling hard against it.

"Let go of me, you jerk!"

Alexandra was getting tired of watching her Nakewameke struggle to get rid of one girl at this point. It couldn't manage to make a decent distraction for her to slip away. If her creature couldn't complete the task, she'd have to clean up the mess.

She narrowed her eyes at Twinkle, then began to approach the Cure from behind. While Twinkle had her attention on the show lace wrapped around her, Alexandra reached up to grab a handful of the Cure's hair and yank it back.

"You're really starting to annoy me, you know that?" Then Alexandra drove her knee into Cure Twinkle's back.

This was really getting bad. So far, she was managing to hold her own against the Nakewameke's shoelace here but that was about all she could do. So, there really wasn't any avoiding it when Alexandra snuck up behind her and grabbed her hair.

"Ow!" With her head pulled back, she glared at the white-haired girl and was about to fire back a retort when she took that hit full on in the back. She was definitely not expecting this girl to hit so hard, and it hurt like Hell. So, instead of a reply there was a sharp, pained gasp as the air was driven from her lungs and her grip on the shoelace faltered.

Two on one were really bad odds for her here....

Suddenly, there's flash from above. A purple & silver streak comes rocketing down, as Cure Moonlight had been surveying the area to get a bead on their current threats. The monster... sort of stood out. As did the Precure that she'd only heard about from Winter, and never seen, but was unmistakable.

A split second later, a blast of energy falls from her towards the silver-haired young woman, while her fist drives towards the Nakewameke.

No words, not yet. Focus on getting this girl back on her feet, first.

There was something incredibly pleasant about robbing Cure Twinkle of the ability to make a witty retort. Unfortunately she didn't have a chance to enjoy the moment as she caught sight of a flash coming their way from above.

As the blast of energy comes her way she tries to grab a hold of Twinkle's shoulder and yank her in the path of the shot instead. The Nakewameke isn't quite as lucky and the punch lands, the force driving it back down onto it's knees. Twinkle will feel the shoelace start to come to loose after that.

... Or maybe the odds suddenly aren't so stacked against her after all! The sudden arrival of another Cure (wow that's two in a couple of weeks) causes the tides to turn.

Alexandra's attempt to try to get her to take the shot might have worked, if not for Moonlight hammering the Nakewameke with a punch and freeing her from its shoelace grip. As it is, she thrusts her arm back to try to give a good, stiff elbow to this jerk-off's gut before wrenching free of her grip and jumping into the air up and over the blast.

"Later, loser!"

With the monster reeling back, and Twinkle free, Moonlight suddenly shoots backwards across the air, flipping over and landing squarely behind the young woman in black. Given the situation, Lily is positively livid - it's bad enough there's dinosaurs out there roaming around, that there's already so many people in danger... Now this?!

"I don't know what the hell you're playing at," Moonlight growls, drawing her baton weapon in a flash from her brooch. "But this is more than enough! You've got one chance to stop this."

This whole plan went from going really good to falling apart a whole lot faster than she would have liked, and she didn't want it to happen at all. The firm elbow from Twinkle causes her to lose her grip and stumble, luckily this also causes her to only get graze by the blast of energy from Moonlight. Still she's not on top of the situation and she's had the wind knocked out of her, things suck.

On shaky feet Alexandra attempts to get closer to her Nakewameke while it recovers from Moonlight's attack. If she's going to get out of this she's going to have be a bit more coordinated with her monster it seems.

"And what if I refuse?" She's just stalling to give herself and her monster a few more seconds to recover, but it's her best option at the moment.

With the energy blast safely past her, Twinkle's jump carries her up and through the air. In mid-flip she tosses a look toward Moonlight, giving her a wave. She'll thank her properly later but right now there's work to be done.

She lands gracefully a short distance away on the other side of Villain Girl and her crazy monster. With the situation back under control that insufferable, devil-may-care, smile is back on her face.

"If you do that then you're totally going to get your butt kicked." ... There might be cameras around, so she's watching the language. Can't have a superhero throwing profanity around!

"If you refuse, I'll stop you," Moonlight says, quickly. "It's as simple as that, and believe me - I've fought and beaten a whole lot worse than you. That said, you probably don't want to be locked up by the authorities around here, so now would be a good time to rethink just what the hell you're doing!"

Okay, so even if she so rarely uses harsh language, Lily may be a bit less concerned about her language than Twinkle. There's something bothering her, clearly - a person capable of summoning a monster? That obviously seems pretty similar to Lily's memories of Yuri, although this definitely wasn't a Desertrian. Still...

"You could be costing people their lives by making us deal with your nonsense!"

Honestly, there's a part of Alexandra that just wants to cut loose and try to take the both of them down. It's mainly because the both of them are so confident they can take her down. Unfortunately she's not a hundred percent sure she could take them both on at the same, her monster wasn't exactly winning against Twinkle on it's own and now there was someone else here too. ...She probably should have made something a bit more frightening than a shoe into a Nakewameke, she'll have to keep that in mind for next time.

It's about then that she catches sight of another group of people fleeing out of the corner of her eye. She smirked as an idea suddenly came to her mind.

"You don't know the half of it." She said in a rather smug tone, then she raised her arm and pointed toward the group of people.

"Nakewameke, attack!" And with the command, the Monster suddenly made a mad dash toward the civilians who were just trying to get away from some dinosaurs. If she was lucky, both the Cure's would move to stop it and give her another chance to escape. If she wasn't... well she'd just have to figure that out.

"Huh?" When the mysterious girl points off somewhere, Kirara follows the gesture and a chill runs down her spine when she sees where she's pointed. Another group of civilians on the run, defenseless, with nothing standing between them and the monster. ... For God's sake, there's kids in that group. "Are you serious?!"

... She's not a hero. She's definitely anything but that... but something like this? There's just no way she can simply stand by and let this happen.

Without even thinking about it, as if on auto-pilot, she's off in hot pursuit of the monster. She can't let this happen, she's got to stop it but... how? She can punch it some more but that didn't seem like enough to really put the monster down for good. And then everything seems to slow down for a few steps, that urgency giving way to an odd hollow feeling... and then she knows what to do.

Her eyes narrow in determination and she leaps, adding an extra boost to her run and her Key and that perfume bottle are back in her hands.

"Exchange! Mode Elegant!" She slams the Key home into the bottle, turns it, and it fills up with a shining gold liquid. She twirls in midair as she passes over the Nakewamake's head, surrounded by a nimbus of light from the perfume. By the time she lands, directly between the creature and its would-be victims, the light bursts out from her, forming into...

... into a ballroom gown?!

There's not even any question to what Moonlight's going to do in response, really. She offers the mysterious girl a bit of a glare, before bursting off of the ground, after the monster in line with Twinkle. At least, she does this until she flies right past her, as the yellow Precure slows down. She blinks, but doesn't stop - she continues forward, until she's ahead of the monster.

Boots hit the ground, and her heels skid back along it as she brings herself to a stop. Just as... Cure Twinkle summons a big, poofy gown?! She has a moment of wondering what bizarre sort of power she must be summoning, but... her body's already driving on instinct. As such, she drives right up into the rampaging monster, aiming to deliver a punch to its middle section, hoping to either slow it down at the least, or launch it back the way she came at the most - right into this new girl's path.

"Cure Twinkle! Now!"

Alexandra returns Moonlight's smirk, then she'll turn to make a hasty retreat as the two Cure's go off to stop her Nakewameke. She feels it's kind of a waste to sacrifice it like that, but she's more concerned with escaping to fight another day. It's just a running shoe anyways, she'll make something better next time.

The Nakewameke on the other hand is continuing on with it's headlong charge when it's suddenly interrupted by Moonlight suddenly dashing at it and driving a fist right into it's middle. The blow isn't enough to knock it back but it's more than to slow it down to a stop for the moment. It'll swing an arm at Moonlight to try and knock her out of the way but it's completely unprepared for what ever Twinkle is planning to do in her new evening wear.

Oh, hey, Moonlight over there knows her name! It looks like she definitely made an impression the last time she ran into one of the other Cures, and she can't help but grin despite the severity of the situation. What can she say? She likes being recognized.

More important, is this dress! She doesn't know where the heck it came from, but she's kind of liking this whole superpowers thing more and more. It doesn't look like anything you'd want to wear to a fight but all the same, she can feel a sudden power rising inside her. Bright, and warm, and strong.

"Okay! Just leave it to me!" Moonlight gave her the opening, time to take advantage of it! Smile never faltering for an instant, she turns to the Nakewameke bringing her hands down around the star-shaped emblem in the center of the belt around her waist. "Shine, O' Stars!"

The emblem glows brilliantly and then flies up into the air, leaving a trail of stardust as it spins over her head.

"Precure!" One hand strikes out, catching a corner of the star and stopping it in place. "Twinkle Humming!"

And with a quick motion, she casts the oversized star toward the Nakewameke.

The Nakewameke was in the middle of trying to get it's footing back when it was suddenly struck by the oversized star projectile. It soon found itself trapped in the giant star, unable to escape despite some rather fierce struggles that eventually died down into nothing. It was almost as if the creature was falling asleep.

...A moment later the large star and the Nakewameke exploded into a large flash of light, that left only a small storm of falling star-like lights and a lone running shoe in it's wake.

The white haired girl that had summoned the monster on the other hand had vanished, apparently she didn't stay to watch her creature get destroyed. Through an alleyway and down another street though a purple haired girl had slipped in to join a group of fleeing people. These events aren't connected at all.

Moonlight watches as Twinkle's attack hits home, and the monster bursts into light. It's not the first time she's seen what a Precure's attack does to something made of evil - after all, she'd killed Jasmine's doppelganger herself. That thought tugs at her a little, but she manages a smile as she runs up to the yellow Precure.

"Good job, Twinkle!" she exclaims, and then quickly looks around. Their opponent seems to be... quite gone, actually. The smile quickly fades, as she continues to look around rapidly. "Do you.. know what was up with that girl?"

Just what sort of person was that? Why would any Numbered in their right mind summon something at a time like this?!

Twinkle, meanwhile, isn't sharing any of Moonlight's momentary angst. She's far too busy, looking up at the star-shaped sparkles falling around her, bathing the street in light after the darkness had been banished.

The elaborate ballroom gown vanishes in a pop of light, returning to her outfit's normal shape... and she gives a cheer, jumping a little as she laughs in excitement.

"Yes! Haha! That was awesome!" She's all smiles, beaming brightly as she turns to the people she'd just saved, catching the eye of a young girl among them and giving her a little wave. The girl just has time to smile back before an adult sweeps in to spirit her away to safety.

That doesn't seem to do anything to spoil her mood though, and her expression is just as bright when Moonlight joins her.

"No idea, she just showed up out of nowhere. But we sure scared her off, huh? I bet she'll think twice before trying something like that again!"
