raisetheearth | Echo Incursion 01 - Jurassic Gateway (August 10th, 2016)

It's a particularly hot day in the Gateway City zoo. What else could you expect? It's not like it's not to be expected, it is the middle of August, after all. But there's plenty of things to see here at the zoo, and the visitors' center is air conditioned well enough.

Just a normal summer day in a typical summer vacation spot. Right?

Well, that's when things change. Those in the visitor's center would find the building changing around them. There's suddenly a dinosaur skeleton in the middle of the place, with the banner "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth" hanging from the ceiling.

That's not all. The animal enclosures are now different. What used to be a pen for the african elephants now has very large, very long necked reptiles in it. A gigantic, meat-eating dinosaur just tromped its way out of the lion habitat it's too much too large for, and unfortunately for the people around it, its vision is based on movement. The monkey house? Well, those are velociraptors breaking out of it. The aviary? Now filled with particular aggressive flying pterosaurs.

These are just some of the creatures making their sudden emergence, and it's not long until they spill out of the zoo and into the city proper. Dinosaurs are now walking the streets of Gateway City.

Yes, indeed. Just a normal summer day.

"Hold on, hold on!" she calls out, skidding to a stop beneath Jasmine, looking straight up. "Sorry for the bath! Water Dragon!" and she fires it upward... it'll hit Jasmine with some force, but she's not nearly as light as anything clinging to her, so she'll mostly just get very wet and jostled.

Best plan ever.

Jasmine clenched her eyes shut, and then braced herself, upon hearing Marina's warning. Seconds later, she felt the water rushing over her, spraying the beasts off of her.

She was drenched, but otherwise fine. And, a moment later, a wall of force emanating off her person she created with the power in her eyes pushed a bunch of the moisture off of her.

Jasmine wasted no time in flying straight at Marina. "Thanks," she said. "But we're not out of the woods yet..."

Indeed. There were still a number of the winged pests flying all around them.

That went at least as well as expected, but there were still freaking dinosaurs everywhere. Sighing, Marina raised her sword, and give it a little twirl, watching as the little creatures swarmed around them. The two of them could even easily defend themselves if they really wanted to, but...

"We're definitely trying to not kill any of them, right?" she asked, just to be sure, because look, there are a ton of the little guys.

Jasmine looked around. This wasn't really the same as fighting the santas and the grinches.

"Honestly, babe, it'd be like attacking a flock of pigeons with a hammer," she said. "We need to focus on getting people out of harms way...!"

Okay just, excuse a snort of laughter from Marina over that one. "That's pretty accurate. Yeah, I guess we oughta just clear people out."

This is becoming their specialty, it seems. Good.

"Okay then...!" Jasmine said, pounding a fist into her palm. "Do you think you can set Seles to hold the line, while we focus on the people in danger already?"

"He oughta be able to at least keep the dinosaurs in place on his own." He didn't really like being made to do too much on his own, and lacked a lot of ability to act without Marina's help, but this'd work. "I'll have him cover it."

"Yeah... tell him I'm sorry for bossing him around," Jasmine said, because she'd gotten pretty cool with Seles in the past year.

She looked down at what lay in store for them. "Ready?"

"He's a very understanding dragon. He'll be fine." After all he's stuck with Marina this whole time - and in their past lives had to deal with the original Umi Ryuuzaki too.

"We got this. I'm ready."

"Heh, yeah. He's like our big scaly baby."

Jasmine nodded, and took out her Dark Tact, extending the blade in order to give herself a close quarters weapon should she be attacked.

"Let's do this!" she cried, descending down towards a group of pedestrians being attacked by the winged reptiles.

"Just don't call him that." Now that would make the poor thing grouchy.

Marina gave her sword a little twirl, and grinned, dashing after Jasmine and firing off a carefully-aimed Water Dragon as she ran.
