Echo Incursion 01 - Jurassic Gateway (August 10th, 2016)

It's a particularly hot day in the Gateway City zoo. What else could you expect? It's not like it's not to be expected, it is the middle of August, after all. But there's plenty of things to see here at the zoo, and the visitors' center is air conditioned well enough.

Just a normal summer day in a typical summer vacation spot. Right?

Well, that's when things change. Those in the visitor's center would find the building changing around them. There's suddenly a dinosaur skeleton in the middle of the place, with the banner "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth" hanging from the ceiling.

That's not all. The animal enclosures are now different. What used to be a pen for the african elephants now has very large, very long necked reptiles in it. A gigantic, meat-eating dinosaur just tromped its way out of the lion habitat it's too much too large for, and unfortunately for the people around it, its vision is based on movement. The monkey house? Well, those are velociraptors breaking out of it. The aviary? Now filled with particular aggressive flying pterosaurs.

These are just some of the creatures making their sudden emergence, and it's not long until they spill out of the zoo and into the city proper. Dinosaurs are now walking the streets of Gateway City.

Yes, indeed. Just a normal summer day.

... As long as she's keeping the dinosaurs busy, Edwin is free to continue conversing with her,

"A mess? Did you cause these things to appear? Like that... THING?"

Something she is unfortunately going to have to deal with at the moment. Maybe once the dino's have been cleared out she can work on clearing him out.

She rolls her eyes at that question.

"No, They just ruined my plans for the day. I'm making the best of it by ruining them." Her eyes drift over to her Nakewameke and the dinosaurs for a moment, then back over to Edwin.

"If you've got a problem with that, you can get in line."

Weller's response is short and to the point.

"It's not in either of our interests to fight each other. But you're expending a lot of effort on such small creatures."

He looked back at the monster and the dinosaurs for a moment. "Perhaps we can help each other."

[switch_over]

Alexandra has to consider this for a moment. She hadn't really decided to fight these things to help people, she was just blowing off steam because these things had beaten her to the punch. ...Still she could at least hear him out, and her Nakewameke had managed to clear the people out of here faster in it's own violent way.

"Well, what did you have in mind? I haven't got all day."

"It's simple," he said. "We simply work together in gathering them up. Then, I use my speed to take them out of here."

[switch_over]

She took a moment to consider his idea. It was certainly practical, but it wasn't nearly as entertaining as batting around the little critters. She sighed and shrugged, she would just have to find other flies to swat later.

"Fine, we'll do it your way." Her eyes shifted to her monster. "Nakewameke, force them into a corner!"

The big lumbering shoe monster changed it's tactics on her command. It began to push the creatures toward a wall with a few swings of it's arms. Anything that tried to get past it was caught by it's lace tendrils and thrown back in with others.

With that done, Weller streaked forward, leaving a trail of crimson lightning in his wake. Once the beasts were clustered, he grabbed them into a large handful and dashed for a nearby parked car. He tore the door open, and then jammed the frightened, screaming creatures into it, leaving them trapped inside.

Alexandra watched with interest as The speedster took the gathered up creatures and trapped them. With them out of the way she could focus on much larger prey now. She took a few steps toward him, but made sure her monster wasn't too far away from her at the same time. They had worked together, but that didn't mean she trusted him.

"There, happy now?"

Weller turned at the sound of her voice. Why was this young woman so annoyed? Had she just wanted to take her aggressions out on these things? He'd need to watch out for her in the future.

"It's not about whether I'm happy. Those things are contained. We both got what we wanted."

[switch_over]

She nods but there's little commitment to the gesture.

"I guess so." Her eyes drift back over to the zoo, it looks like there are larger creatures starting to emerge.

"Looks like there are still faces that need to be smashed over there." She approached her Nakewameke which lowered it's hand, she stepped on it and allowed it to raise her up to it's shoulder. Once she had sat down on it she glanced over to Edwin again.

"Catch you later, Running Man. Unless you want to come too?"

[speedpariah]

Running Man. That was actually fairly amusing.

"I'm afraid not," he said, looking back at the car full of trapped reptilians. "I'm going to gather information at my own... pace, now."

[switch_over]

She couldn't help but snicker at that, she raised a hand up to cover her mouth as best she could. She had image to maintain here after all.

...But the Running Man was going to do things at his own pace, that was kind of hilarious. Once she had composed herself she lowered her hand and gave him a nonchalant shrug.

"Suit yourself, if you get bored you know where I'll be."
