Echo Incursion 01 - Jurassic Gateway (August 10th, 2016)

It's a particularly hot day in the Gateway City zoo. What else could you expect? It's not like it's not to be expected, it is the middle of August, after all. But there's plenty of things to see here at the zoo, and the visitors' center is air conditioned well enough.

Just a normal summer day in a typical summer vacation spot. Right?

Well, that's when things change. Those in the visitor's center would find the building changing around them. There's suddenly a dinosaur skeleton in the middle of the place, with the banner "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth" hanging from the ceiling.

That's not all. The animal enclosures are now different. What used to be a pen for the african elephants now has very large, very long necked reptiles in it. A gigantic, meat-eating dinosaur just tromped its way out of the lion habitat it's too much too large for, and unfortunately for the people around it, its vision is based on movement. The monkey house? Well, those are velociraptors breaking out of it. The aviary? Now filled with particular aggressive flying pterosaurs.

These are just some of the creatures making their sudden emergence, and it's not long until they spill out of the zoo and into the city proper. Dinosaurs are now walking the streets of Gateway City.

Yes, indeed. Just a normal summer day.

The sound of another pair of beating, leathery wings joins the rest, but fortunately it's not yet another Pterosaur. And stinking of sunblock as well. Those Dimorphodons kept going for her parasol!

"Rakka!"

As for the fairynapping Pteranodon, it's about to get a vampire smashing into it's face with a red and very sharp spear.

Celine was lagging fairly far behind Emilia, her flight far more stable due to the year of on and off practice. Though she was still extremely slow compared to the vampire, and when she shot off to aid the fairy, there was no way Celine could ever hope to catch her...

Well, not 'no way.' But that power was better used somewhere else. With a loud crack and a wave of disturbing power, a pteranodon fell, its wing membranes slashed. Celine appeared next to Raka a split second later having easily crossed the gap in the stopped time. Her eyes were glowing, knife in one hand and a pocket watch in the other. Her aura of time's absence was extremely unnatural, borderlining on sickening, but it wasn't harmful on its own.

"Rakka we're here to help!"

The Pterosaur didn't know what hit it, literally not seeing Emi swoop in to nail it with her spear. Pain and disorientation sent the small reptile spiraling out of the air. It released Fougere immediately, letting him tumble in his own disoriented arc through the air. She had to help. She had to...

And then Celine was there, holding a knife and a watch as a cold, oddly non-comforting feeling swept over the Precure, chilling her spine. The red eyes received little attention.

"Fougere!" Thanks would be given later, as time was of the essence. With no distractions at the moment, Rakka shot forward and flung herself into the air, holding out both arms to catch her dearest fairy companion. And they both tumbled to the ground again, Rakka shielding him with her body.

"...Rakka?" Fougere mumbled, still shaking from the fall.

"I'm here." That was all she needed to say.

That winged menace wasn't going to trouble anyone further. The vampire immediately tries to swoop down to catch Fougere - except that Rakka managed to snatch him out of the air, forcing Emi to veer off at the last second or end up crashing into Rakka.

"I'll keep these things busy!" And she was very used to Celine's power by now...

Unfortunately, with Rakka now safe, the pteranodons were now quite focused on her. She seemed to be holding her own okay... Kind of... A little bit... While it was clear she was quite skilled with her throwing knives, her flying was a completely different story. The faster she moved, the more unsteady she was leading her to resort to countering the dinosaurs when they dove at her resulting in some less than perfect exchanges. No doubt Emilia could already smell her blood.

Each counter was accompanied by that same harsh energy, her eyes flashing red, reality rippling around her as she flickered here and there. another fell from the sky, its wings torn and its body peppered with more knives than the black haired woman should have been able to carry.

A divine spear or two would be of great help right about now.

Rakka was... over here, momentarily safe from the swarm as Emi and Celine held them off. She cradled her companion in her arms, checking for any serious wounds. But besides the few scratches from the Pterosaur claws, Fougere was angrier then scared now. "Rraaagh! We need to kick those lizard's butts!"

"....Right!" Rakka nodded and stood up again, letting Fougere move to her side, morphing into her magic cape in a burst of light. Together, they shot forward like an arrow, swinging a leg out to hit a swooping dino, knocking it away from Celine.

"Thanks!" She tossed a thanks towards her fellow Numbered.

There's still Pterosaurs giving Celine trouble, and that was frankly unacceptable, wan't it? So the other two going for her get a nasty interruption in the form of a red, glowing spear of energy piercing them through the chest, thrown one after the other and vanishing as Emilia recalled her weapon.

"Right to the heart of the matter, eh, Celine?"

Celine was more than a little startled as Rakka shot past her without warning, the black haired woman holding her knives and watch up as her energy spiked... but she didn't strike. Either her reaction time was great or something else was going on.

She was a bit less startled when the two spears of red energy rushed by. She dared to relax a hair, drifting back in her flight a little bit, looking back over her shoulder at Remilia. "Well I couldn't very well do nothing." To the heart of the matter indeed.

She drifted unsteadily back and took her place by Emi's side, knives once more at the ready as she faced the dinosaurs.

Rakka was some distance away from the other two, keeping her won well enough, now that she had Fougere. And she knew that the two women could handle themselves, as long as they had each other.

Her fist hit another dino out of the air, and she shouted back at them. "You guys okay?"

Emi stayed close to Celine, ready to take out the dinos she had trouble with, now that Rakka was more able to fight back with her fairy with her.

"We're fine... Celine's only got a few scratches."

"Speak for yourself! I don't heal like you do!" Emilia could no doubt smell blood, but the injuries were still minor. Annoying at worst.

Time shivered, another wave of unpleasantness washing over those nearby and another dinosaur fell with its wings slashed. "We should probably get out of here!" The three of them could handle the dinosaurs without a doubt but it would certainly be easier if they at least weren't in the middle of them all.
