Factor Industries Charity Event: October 18th, 2016

Even for Benjamin Factor, arranging this charity event had been something of a challenge. Just as he held great influence in Gateway City, Thunder Corp's influence in Locke was great as well. But with time and money, all things were indeed possible in this case, and the Memorial Dance Hall was playing host to the night's events. It was a glamorous affair: politicians, captains of business, dignitaries, and celebrities had been invited. For whatever controversy that existed, the world legitimately wanted to heal the wounds left by the invasion, and that meant there were a lot of people who wanted to use events like this to either advance that cause, or to make themselves look good.

But they weren't the only sorts of individuals who had recieved an invitation.

Benjamin Factor had also made it so the Numbered would be invited to his little party. Arrivals through the teleporter would be greeted by drivers at the community center, and the same courtesy was extended to anyone who might live in Locke. The only stipulation? Was that anyone who came make an effort to make themselves presentable. If that was a problem, or anyone arrived without knowing, they had clothes on hand for people to change into.

Indeed, it seemed that the Numbered would be well provided for tonight. That being said, their presence would get people to talk, given the presence of news crews making live coverage. Nevertheless... "getting people to talk" seemed to be exactly what Benjamin Factor wanted to happen.

That particular glance isn't nearly subtle enough to escape Winter, and she laughs. "I'm kind of easy to read, I guess. Yes, Lily is everything to me." Literally no one in this room needs to be told that, but she doesn't really care about that anyway.

Hearing about the attack, though, her tone becomes more serious, fitting the self-elected leader of the team. "You're referring to the attack at the warehouse downtown, I take it." It's not a question. There's really nothing else she'd want to comment on like that. "Please, don't misunderstand - I entered that fight because I don't particularly like snake monsters near my home, let alone ones under foreign influence. My sister-in-law being attacked was even more of a solid motivator. I don't fight because I want something in return. I don't fight for the fame, though I've certainly become a household name by now. I just want to be able to keep people safe. To keep myself and my important people safe. To that extent, I'm happy I could help." Better to cut that off before she can even start.

Lucille just smiles at that first part. "Everything, hm?" she said. "Ah, love. And that was your first relationship for you both, was it not? How... fortunate for you both. Almost storybook."

She smiled even wider at Winter's explanation. "You're loyal, and a good Samaritan. Those are all admirable qualities, Mrs. Tsukuyomi. And they're qualities I value."

"The first for me," she confirms. "The first that worked out at all for her, so that probably counts." Something seems... kind of off - what, is she jealous or something? - but that's not really her place. "It is a very romantic turnout, one I'm absolutely happy for. But in a very real way, we went through a lot of pain to reach this point. It's certainly not any storybook I'd want to wish upon anyone else." The nights hovering over Lily, considering her own darkness, lamenting the things she'd had to do... those were scars every bit as real as the one on her back.

She's not sure if she should be worried when the woman goes on; her guard goes right up, but she does her best to keep a smile on. "I've worked hard to make myself someone that can be proud of her moral code. I'm... admittedly unsure what value I'd have to you, though." There's a certain quirk that reaches her lips as she adds, "I'm kind of a PR nightmare."
