Factor Industries Charity Event: October 18th, 2016

Even for Benjamin Factor, arranging this charity event had been something of a challenge. Just as he held great influence in Gateway City, Thunder Corp's influence in Locke was great as well. But with time and money, all things were indeed possible in this case, and the Memorial Dance Hall was playing host to the night's events. It was a glamorous affair: politicians, captains of business, dignitaries, and celebrities had been invited. For whatever controversy that existed, the world legitimately wanted to heal the wounds left by the invasion, and that meant there were a lot of people who wanted to use events like this to either advance that cause, or to make themselves look good.

But they weren't the only sorts of individuals who had recieved an invitation.

Benjamin Factor had also made it so the Numbered would be invited to his little party. Arrivals through the teleporter would be greeted by drivers at the community center, and the same courtesy was extended to anyone who might live in Locke. The only stipulation? Was that anyone who came make an effort to make themselves presentable. If that was a problem, or anyone arrived without knowing, they had clothes on hand for people to change into.

Indeed, it seemed that the Numbered would be well provided for tonight. That being said, their presence would get people to talk, given the presence of news crews making live coverage. Nevertheless... "getting people to talk" seemed to be exactly what Benjamin Factor wanted to happen.

....Not everyday that she had to do this sort of thing for someone. It left her feeling a little embarrased about bringing that type of chapstick along at all. But if Nux was feeling up to it... "Uhh... you're welcome."

She watches him rub it on, giving her a hopeful look. And she stares, and stares.

"...Better!" Which is honestly the truth. Thumbs up.

The last thing Nux is going to do is judge the chapstick choice of someone who is coming through for him in such a major way.

"Really? Do they look smooth and nice again? Kissable even?" he asks hopefully.

She tries so hard, not specifically for Nux, but she tries.

"...Umm." She fixes the guy with a strange look. Nux, what are you trying to ask her. "I...guess? I don't think much about..."

...No, she does.

"Why are you asking me, Nux?"

[witnessme]

The effort is appreciated, even if it's not everything Nux wants and needs.

"I... uh, I might meet Kirara tonight. You know! Girl on the Network, really pretty, uh... I want to make a good first impression."

...Her face slowly lights up. And her voice drops to a whisper, like she's talking about conspiracies.

"....Do you like her?"

Nux's eyes widen.

"Uh... like her? She'd never go out with someone like me," he says, lowering his gaze and continuing to rub his lips against each other. "But, uh... I mean, yeah. I kinda do."

And there's what can be described as an "excited noise" from Rakka. luckily, she hushes down before anyone starts giving them stares.

"That's so sweet! I never knew!"

Nux looks a little panicked. "Uh, it's a secret," he says, truly believing it even though it's far less of a secret than he thinks, on account of the fact that the poor boy just can't keep his mouth closed.

"Please don't tell anyone! They'd... they'd laugh."

The poor guy, and unfortunately, he and Rakka share that in common. Might not be the best thing that she knows about it now. "O-oh... gotcha." She mimes using a key to lock her lips together. It's a gesture from an anime, sorry, Nux.

"I won't tell anyone, I promise! It's just... really sweet."

While Nux hasn't ever really watched anime (he remembers seeing some on prime time when he was a kid, on a special block on a cartoon channel set up just for that purpose), the gesture is certainly one that's easy enough to read.

"You think it's sweet? G-good. Uh, it means that maybe she will, too," he says hopefully.

Then she would just have to show him some new anime online, but that's for later. Right now, he was in an emergency situation.... involving a crush.

"You can only hope!" She chuckles sheepishly. "I-I know I worried about if Raye would like me... that way, but it all worked out!"

Whether or not most people would consider this an emergency, it's probably a good thing that Nux and Rakka feel similarly about it. No one's feelings are discounted, and it reveals that they actually see romance kind of similarly... even if it's that heart-to-the-brim, tricky, unrequited kind.

"How did it work out?" he asks. "I mean, who uh... who made the first move?"

"W-well..." Now that's a big subject that Rakka didn't expect to be talking about today. Rakka knew a lot about love... mostly through the many animes and other shows, games, and books she'd seen during her life. Actually explaining it?

Well, that was a whole different thing entirely.

"It worked out well!" Considering the fact that they were still together... "I-I did; it was at a Halloween party, we were dancing together."

"That sounds sweet," he says, wide-eyed and clinging to her every word and image. "Like... uh, really sweet. Something out of a movie or something. What were you guys dressed as? I b-bet you were an angel and she was a devil, huh?"
