Factor Industries Charity Event: October 18th, 2016

Even for Benjamin Factor, arranging this charity event had been something of a challenge. Just as he held great influence in Gateway City, Thunder Corp's influence in Locke was great as well. But with time and money, all things were indeed possible in this case, and the Memorial Dance Hall was playing host to the night's events. It was a glamorous affair: politicians, captains of business, dignitaries, and celebrities had been invited. For whatever controversy that existed, the world legitimately wanted to heal the wounds left by the invasion, and that meant there were a lot of people who wanted to use events like this to either advance that cause, or to make themselves look good.

But they weren't the only sorts of individuals who had recieved an invitation.

Benjamin Factor had also made it so the Numbered would be invited to his little party. Arrivals through the teleporter would be greeted by drivers at the community center, and the same courtesy was extended to anyone who might live in Locke. The only stipulation? Was that anyone who came make an effort to make themselves presentable. If that was a problem, or anyone arrived without knowing, they had clothes on hand for people to change into.

Indeed, it seemed that the Numbered would be well provided for tonight. That being said, their presence would get people to talk, given the presence of news crews making live coverage. Nevertheless... "getting people to talk" seemed to be exactly what Benjamin Factor wanted to happen.

"The message...." Rakka echoed, noting just how many people were here, and promptly wondering just how many of them were here to speak on the Numbered's behalf. Half of them? Maybe more, maybe less. Her statement shook Rakka from her thoughts making her smile.

"With everyone's help, I'm sure we can send a good message like that." She started, something flickering in her eyes. "To be honest, I think it's really important that we're here, helping in any way we can. We want to make the world safe again, too."

She blinks a bit. "...Uh. Hehe. Sorry for getting so serious there."

"No, no, it's quite alright," Sonia replied. "That's the reason why we're all here, isn't it? Some matters require more than a bit of levity."

Sonia actually smiled. "It's important that the Numbered work to shape their own futures. We can't sit around and wait for everyone to come around, can we not?"

"Right. We need to be the change we want to see in the world." Someone famous once said that, Rakka figured. Now seemed like a good time to bring it up. "With more Numbered showing up, we need to keep trying to make the world better. I think this is a good step."

Really, if nothing went wrong this evening, then Rakka would be ecstatic.

"Of course. Though to be honest, this is just the first step, is it not? Or rather, the latest step in a long and winding road."

Sonia actually looked... wistful for the briefest of moments. "It's strange," she said. "It almost feels easier to save the world than it is to change it."

Rakka might have just been sharing that wistful look as she nodded again. She knew what that feeling was like, she'd felt it herself, many times. "Saving the world was the first part, I think. This is, probably.... the followup."

Her eyes shined, or it may have just been the lights. "We're stronger now, we can change it if we really try."

Sonia nodded. "I've never been one to invest much in fantasy," she said. "But the stories we hear growing up... they never seem to focus much on what happens after the day is saved."

She smiled at Rakka. "You seem rather determined. That's good."

"Well, this is the best chance that we've had yet to get the people to understand us. I think it's a great idea!" Rakka was certainly in high hopes tonight.
