Factor Industries Charity Event: October 18th, 2016

Even for Benjamin Factor, arranging this charity event had been something of a challenge. Just as he held great influence in Gateway City, Thunder Corp's influence in Locke was great as well. But with time and money, all things were indeed possible in this case, and the Memorial Dance Hall was playing host to the night's events. It was a glamorous affair: politicians, captains of business, dignitaries, and celebrities had been invited. For whatever controversy that existed, the world legitimately wanted to heal the wounds left by the invasion, and that meant there were a lot of people who wanted to use events like this to either advance that cause, or to make themselves look good.

But they weren't the only sorts of individuals who had recieved an invitation.

Benjamin Factor had also made it so the Numbered would be invited to his little party. Arrivals through the teleporter would be greeted by drivers at the community center, and the same courtesy was extended to anyone who might live in Locke. The only stipulation? Was that anyone who came make an effort to make themselves presentable. If that was a problem, or anyone arrived without knowing, they had clothes on hand for people to change into.

Indeed, it seemed that the Numbered would be well provided for tonight. That being said, their presence would get people to talk, given the presence of news crews making live coverage. Nevertheless... "getting people to talk" seemed to be exactly what Benjamin Factor wanted to happen.

What Jasmine has personally done to Thunder Corp is fresh in her mind as well. She resists the urge to frown, but crosses her arms.

"That's right," she says. "I'm a bit surprised to see you at this kind of event, ma'am."

Lucille gives her a bemused little expression, shaking her head. Just the act of Jasmine crossing her arms is a little bit of defiance, though it doesn't deter her in the slightest.

"Why surprised? It's a rather big event, and Thunder Corporation is... woven into the very heart of Locke City, is it not? We've helped bring this city back onto its feet, after all that happened. The point of this event is very well within our mutual interests, I think."

Jasmine let out a short "tch" sound. She couldn't really hold it in, and instantly regretted it. She'd hoped she'd be able to goad this woman into being more visibly antagonistic, but that was... rather unrealistic, she realized.

"Maybe you're right," Jasmine admitted. "Locke is part of who a lot of us are. That's why my family and I decided to come back. On our own."

At that sound, Lucille's smile just widens. Only a little bit, but enough that it should be noticeable, as should its cause.

"Well, the feeling is mutual. Locke is very much a part of all of us." Her smile grows just a hair more. "In spite of what you may believe, you being in our back yard is hardly something we take issue with."

She leans in a bit. "In fact, I suppose I should extend my enthusiastic thanks for safe guarding our warehouse the other night. After all, if that unruly woman with the monster had gotten much further... why, who knows what sort of damage she could have inflicted on the surrounding area? Those poor families..."

Jasmine forced a smile. "I see," she said. "I guess that makes us one big happy family in your eyes, huh?"

At her second comment, Jasmine's expression grew more steely. "Oh? Yeah, you're welcome. But I do have to wonder, why put a warehouse in the same place a bunch of people are living? Isn't that kind of asking for trouble?"

She narrowed her eyes. "Speaking personally, I'm just glad certain people didn't respond to heavily. You remember what happened after Albero, don't you?"

Jasmine, of course, very much did. The phantom pain in her side made it so she never forgot.
