Factor Industries Charity Event: October 18th, 2016

Even for Benjamin Factor, arranging this charity event had been something of a challenge. Just as he held great influence in Gateway City, Thunder Corp's influence in Locke was great as well. But with time and money, all things were indeed possible in this case, and the Memorial Dance Hall was playing host to the night's events. It was a glamorous affair: politicians, captains of business, dignitaries, and celebrities had been invited. For whatever controversy that existed, the world legitimately wanted to heal the wounds left by the invasion, and that meant there were a lot of people who wanted to use events like this to either advance that cause, or to make themselves look good.

But they weren't the only sorts of individuals who had recieved an invitation.

Benjamin Factor had also made it so the Numbered would be invited to his little party. Arrivals through the teleporter would be greeted by drivers at the community center, and the same courtesy was extended to anyone who might live in Locke. The only stipulation? Was that anyone who came make an effort to make themselves presentable. If that was a problem, or anyone arrived without knowing, they had clothes on hand for people to change into.

Indeed, it seemed that the Numbered would be well provided for tonight. That being said, their presence would get people to talk, given the presence of news crews making live coverage. Nevertheless... "getting people to talk" seemed to be exactly what Benjamin Factor wanted to happen.

Inching towards her? This is Rose, approaching her. But it's a public place, so it can't get too bad, right? And she's strong! She's part of Keldek's designs to change this world. What's there to fear?

Rose still sets her on edge, though, in person, but she manages to return a weak wave, before letting out a steadying breath. "Hello Rose."

Rose does at least notice that her presence is a bit unnerving. She's not so out of touch that she can't pick up on at least that much, but trying to figure it out is the tough part. Is it because of her sister? It had to be. It all kind of went back to that, right?

She frowns a bit, but nods as she gets closer. "So, ah. How're you doing? Alright?"

Riveting ice breaker.

Half of this party is unnerving, and Umi chalks up her reaction to Rose, in part, to already being put off her game by the large, chatty crowd.

But it is Rose. It does go back to her sister. Umi hates that about herself.

"...in all honesty... yes, in fact. I am alright."

Rose realizes that. All of it. It's hard not to, and she shifts a bit uncomfortably, folding her arms in front of her.

"Mm, that's... that's good. I..."

She's not an empathetic person. No, that was Lily. She was born to be the opposite of her, in most ways. Yet... she does still feel that tug of responsibility there. A want to do better.

"...I'm glad. We don't ever know what's going on with some of you, anymore."

Rose never really actively hurt Umi, but she never tried to stop Jasmine either. That would, in turn, mean conflict, though, that they couldn't afford - and it's hard for Umi to separate it all in her mind and judge how to react to Rose.

"I will try to keep you updated on Reki and myself, then. Our lives have changed considerably, as of late, making it more convenient, at least."

Rose is quite aware of all that, though at the same time she was strung along by her sister too, even if in different ways. It's certainly made it harder for her to trust anyone, outside of Summer.

"Reki and yourself?" she asks aloud, blinking. She then shrugs a bit. "But... that's good. We all went through a bunch of shit, and... The less of that, the better, huh?"

They were largely at the whim of Jasmine and Raye at times, it seemed.

"Ah - yes, we have been traveling together since the... battle. She... she was injured. I couldn't leave her." One of the few people who could empathize with her pathetic situation beforehand. "There's still... much of that, but I plan to act on it now."
