Echo Incursion - Despair Attack!

Somewhere, at any place in the world really, a bizarre event is happening. Par for the course really, but as characters make their way around today they might come across one or more strange little creatures. The tiny things are essentially a sort of lock with tiny hands and feet connected to their body by lengths of chain. And probably dismiss them as curiosities since they seem rather harmless on their own.

But however dangerous they may or may not be is irrelevant. All that matters to them is their mission. Their mission to hunt down strong and hopeful dreams and lock them away forever.....

"What an odd little thing..." Emilia was completely unaware of the danger, and very confident that the little lock looking creature couldn't offer any threat to her if it was less than friendly.

She noticed it come into view a short while ago, following her for some reason. Well, she was soon going to find out...

[Seated at a table at the local deli, Arthur finished off a ham and cheese and a grape soda--cementing his status as a member of the service industry as he pulled out his phone so he could send Emilia a text via the network.]

hey emi

do you want me to pick you up something for lunch

im about to get food

[He was a dirty liar--if only because he wanted two lunches.]

She stops, taking her eyes off the little monster to send a voice message back.

"Perhaps! What do you have in-Ahh!" Her reply is cut off by a scream as the Zetsuborg suddenly suddenly lunged at her, causing her to drop her phone... Suddenly a empty feeling grew in her chest, and a lock shaped hole appeared there. As a large, metal cage appeared around her and rose into the air as the monster itself appeared, taking the form of a giant version Emilia in white armor. Or rather, some sort of armored dress.

With a roar of "ZETSUBORG!" the monster begins it's rampage...

The only response he could offer was the most genuine one. Unlike himself, Arthur stood up sharply and left without paying--breaking the door handle to the deli open with his bare hand. There wasn't any need to say anything, nor did he imagine Emilia would have given him a chance to talk if she was able to say anything. With wind on his heels, he took off, sending a gale up with his sprint.

He was following Emilia's source of power--something he could easily recall.

While it's useful, it'll be hard to miss the huge Emilia-esque monster smashing everything and causing all sorts of chaos. As for Emilia herself, she is trapped inside that cage, her eyes blank...

It didn't take long to find her at all. Arthur came to a halt in the street, dust and debris kicked up as he landed with a solid crunch in the pavement. All he could do was gape as he looked to the gigantic caricature of Emilia wreaking havoc downtown, not yet noticing Emilia stuck in the cage inside.

"What... the hell!? Emi!"

Emilia can't hear him, or do much of anything but stay there in that cage... The only thing to do would be to take out this monster before it wrecks anything else.

As for the monster itself, it roars "Zetsuborg!" angrily and moves in to attack him, lashing out with its mockery of Emilia's weapon, Gungnir.

Arthur lunged backwards, wincing as the force of the weapon itself sent him staggering. He threw one arm forward, blocking a bit of it, though the end result wasn't pretty--the length of his arm coated red from taking something like that on without a weapon handy. Bloody dripped at his elbow and people scattered as the monster began to take its rampage seriously.

"Emi! Are you inside that thing!?"

It wasn't her, but she was close to it. Otherwise, he would have sensed her in that attack. Arthur was wary about his approach, not wanting to attack and risk hitting her.

He probably should start fighting back, the cage holding Emi had risen further up into the air at least.

The monster wasn't shy about trying to attack once more, now that it's last blow hit Arthur and drew blood...

The sound of metal grating came next. As Arthur skidded back on his heels, his eyes found Emilia in the cage, unconscious. She was in his view.

That much was enough.

A streak of lightning scored along the monster's arm, against its spear and towards its head in one gesture. Arthur became a natural disaster in a flash, Excalibur drawn and ripping through the creature like a buzz-saw, spun with a dozen slashes that were thrown in that moment. Stepping off of the monster's face, Arthur turned on his heel and swung to rip apart the top of Emilia's cage to release her immediately after, diving down to catch her once she was freed.

Probably not the proper way to beat these creatures, but the effect was the same. The monster didn't even roar in pain, or thrash around... It only says "Dreaming..." falls over backwards and vanishes... Right as Arthur opened the cage... which also vanished.

Now, she needed to be catched.

Arthur didn't have time to think about the creation of the monster or their particular methods, but he was absolutely certain of himself when he attacked it. With an absolute lack of mercy, he pursued Emilia and caught her as the creature, which held onto her before with its cage, dissolved.

Landing in the middle of it, Arthur held her to his chest, raising his voice a touch.

"Emi? Hey?"

Emi had drifted from unconsciousness towards sleep, reflexively breathing now and looking peaceful... It might take a while before she wakes. In the end, she subconsciously knows she's safe now...
