Echo Incursion 01 - Jurassic Gateway (August 10th, 2016)

It's a particularly hot day in the Gateway City zoo. What else could you expect? It's not like it's not to be expected, it is the middle of August, after all. But there's plenty of things to see here at the zoo, and the visitors' center is air conditioned well enough.

Just a normal summer day in a typical summer vacation spot. Right?

Well, that's when things change. Those in the visitor's center would find the building changing around them. There's suddenly a dinosaur skeleton in the middle of the place, with the banner "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth" hanging from the ceiling.

That's not all. The animal enclosures are now different. What used to be a pen for the african elephants now has very large, very long necked reptiles in it. A gigantic, meat-eating dinosaur just tromped its way out of the lion habitat it's too much too large for, and unfortunately for the people around it, its vision is based on movement. The monkey house? Well, those are velociraptors breaking out of it. The aviary? Now filled with particular aggressive flying pterosaurs.

These are just some of the creatures making their sudden emergence, and it's not long until they spill out of the zoo and into the city proper. Dinosaurs are now walking the streets of Gateway City.

Yes, indeed. Just a normal summer day.

Suddenly, there's flash from above. A purple & silver streak comes rocketing down, as Cure Moonlight had been surveying the area to get a bead on their current threats. The monster... sort of stood out. As did the Precure that she'd only heard about from Winter, and never seen, but was unmistakable.

A split second later, a blast of energy falls from her towards the silver-haired young woman, while her fist drives towards the Nakewameke.

No words, not yet. Focus on getting this girl back on her feet, first.

There was something incredibly pleasant about robbing Cure Twinkle of the ability to make a witty retort. Unfortunately she didn't have a chance to enjoy the moment as she caught sight of a flash coming their way from above.

As the blast of energy comes her way she tries to grab a hold of Twinkle's shoulder and yank her in the path of the shot instead. The Nakewameke isn't quite as lucky and the punch lands, the force driving it back down onto it's knees. Twinkle will feel the shoelace start to come to loose after that.

"Oh my god! Did you really say something that cliche?" Yeah, that cliche was so bad she just can't help but react to it despite her gratitude.

She does pause though. "Well thanks again, though."

... Or maybe the odds suddenly aren't so stacked against her after all! The sudden arrival of another Cure (wow that's two in a couple of weeks) causes the tides to turn.

Alexandra's attempt to try to get her to take the shot might have worked, if not for Moonlight hammering the Nakewameke with a punch and freeing her from its shoelace grip. As it is, she thrusts her arm back to try to give a good, stiff elbow to this jerk-off's gut before wrenching free of her grip and jumping into the air up and over the blast.

"Later, loser!"

At about roughly the same time that the tyrannosaurs stops roaring, Raye also stops her hurling and screaming. She rests on one knee and drags the back of her hand across her mouth... pointlessly because there really isn't any part of her that isn't covered in puke and glares daggers right back at the rex.

For a little while, the tension in the air could be cut with a knife. And then--

"C'mere, motherfucker!" And, then, with all the considerable force she could, she launched herself into the air. ... To tackle that T-Rex.

There is a minor good factor in all of this. There was still one person who had been flying about, trying to find someone she knew. And she found Emi..although not in the best of spots. Dani growls and sends out a wave of red colored magical bullets to surround Emi. In a protective circle for the moment as she lands near, ready to fight back.

"Emi!"

Green eyes peered down to Weller, before a gloved hand was offered to him--a gesture of good will to help him up. From what he saw of Weller briefly from moments he could actually keep proper track of him, it was clear to him that he wasn't looking to do anyone harm. So, he must have been one of the good ones--

At least until Arthur could confirm otherwise.

"Are you alright?"

"Uh..." Never a dull moment in the lives of her team, it seemed. Rakka looks from the raging dino to the giant robot, and she manages a nod. "R-right! I am, so that's what we're gonna do, right Fougere?"

It only takes a flick of the wrist and a pose before Rakka finds her Feather Tact in her hands. With it, she stared down their trapped foe.

"Better get out of the way, Marina!"

It took another few seconds before she even managed a sound other than a sort of wheezing sound.

"Hhhhyup...." A pause, and a sound not unlike somebody clearing their throat and her voice is clear. "Yup. No problem."

There was a shuffling sound as she pushed herself up to her feet, the last few gashes and tears closing up in a glimmer of luminous threads. You wouldn't know that just a minute ago she was being torn to shreds by velociraptors. Although, her clothes were in pretty bad shape... not that that was anything new to her. Everything that mattered was still covered so it was all good.

"Okay, I'm good." She rolled a shoulder, flexed her hand. "Thanks for the assist there."

He dismisses the flow for the moment, the water and ice vanishing at his whim. One target down, at least temporarily.

The movement is caught at the corner of his vision, and a quick shunpo takes him down next to the waving figure. To normal human eyes, this looks like teleportation even though it isn't. Less than four and a half feet tall, Toushirou hardly cuts any kind of imposing figure on his own, but the katana that's about as long as he is tall is a bit more impressive. His grip on the weapon is one of calm assurance, of someone who is very well-accustomed to wielding it.

"What is it?" Terse, but no bite to the question. And no familiarity, as he'd never met Cesar before the invasion.

Exactly. This absolutely makes perfect sense, why would anyone even question this anymore?

Even amidst all the chaos, Toushirou manages to catch that particular scream, and he snaps his attention downward. Damn, too crowded to aim a dragon down there. But he's fast enough for other things. A single shunpo to reach the ground, and then another as he drags the tip of his blade against the street, ice forming in its wake in perfect time to catch the feet of the swarming campys and halt their movement.

The small dinosaurs shriek in frustration and attempt to pull their feet out of the ice, but for now, they seem to be stuck.

Phillip likes zoos, for the most part. Animals are awesome, and a lot of zoos mostly keep animals that would have trouble surviving on their own, and even though it is sad to see some of them in cages it could probably be a lot worse.

Though, until today, he didn't realize that having a zoo with dinosaurs is possibly the coolest thing ever. And also super dangerous. But, come on, dinosaurs.

It probably shouldn't surprise anyone that the dinosaurs manage to escape. Zoos aren't really equipped for that kind of thing. Phillip would like to not fight them, for a variety of reasons, but if anyone could clearly use some help then he will. Or they could always try to 'rescue' the boy from the ones he keeps approaching.

Nope! Rakka can totally do this though for sure. "I think I'm pure enough, thanks, but I guess I'll give you an open shot."

Umi backs off, slowly, keeping a close eye on everything.

That's not the point!

"Sure thing! Just consider me part of the team for the day!" Heck, yeah, they've totally got this. Grinning, she turns to the city streets aaaaaaaaaaand....

"Sooooo... you've done this kinda thing before, right? How do you usually handle it?"

"Uh, well... this is kinda difficult, because dinosaurs really don't have any cohesive goals, so there's a lot of running around trying to clear people out, and keep the big scaly idiots from going too far." Yeah this is sort of a difficult situation to really coordinate.

Does it surprise Toushirou that once dinosaurs had appeared in the zoo, they would escape? Of course not. He's not an idiot, and that's why he's here. Between trapping the occasional rampaging dinosaur in ice and hurrying normal people into hopefully safe locations, he catches sight of Phillip walking straight up to one of the damn things.

Sadly, this doesn't surprise him, either.

He's at Phillip's side almost instantaneously, blade still out, but lowered. And of course, his own reaction to all of this? A vaguely resigned: "Why am I not suprised?"

No, he isn't worried about Phillip's physical well-being. It's isn't like anything can actually kill him.

"Heh, yeah. He's like our big scaly baby."

Jasmine nodded, and took out her Dark Tact, extending the blade in order to give herself a close quarters weapon should she be attacked.

"Let's do this!" she cried, descending down towards a group of pedestrians being attacked by the winged reptiles.

"Just don't call him that." Now that would make the poor thing grouchy.

Marina gave her sword a little twirl, and grinned, dashing after Jasmine and firing off a carefully-aimed Water Dragon as she ran.

Oh come on, Toushirou. Phillip is grinning, enthusiastic as ever. "When are we ever going to get to see real dinosaurs again?" he asks. Seriously. Even you have to admit that this is cool.

Though... yeah the dinosaurs wrecking the city is probably not super great, though he's not sure what he could do to wrangle them. He's not entirely sure his powers work for anything but crushing things.

Jasmine sighed in relief. No matter how many times Raye had been patched up and gotten back up again, Jasmine still worried that maybe this time she wouldn't. A brush with death would do that to you.

"Yeah, well, that's good then," she said, turning back around. "And you don't need to thank me... that's what friends are for, right?"

Hmph. Life literally rips events out of a comic book, and you can't get away with making a cornball line? Weller resents that a little.

But no, he won't dwell on that. He'll simply shove it into a mental box for now.

"It's no trouble. Now, you get somewhere safe, alright?"

Weller's vision clears, and... what he sees surprises him. The young man from the auto-repair place? Hm.

"I'm fine," they say, taking the hand, while using their speed to distort their voice. With the mask on, that should be enough to distort their identity, but Weller doesn't know this man has actually never met him.

"Thank you."

It's almost like a showdown at high noon, except there are no guns, they've already been fighting, and one of them is a dinosaur.

And with the tension suddenly breaking, the t-rex lets out a roar. As Raye tackles her, it ends up grabbing her with those tiny arms of her's, pulling her down as she's knocked over, and holding her against her chest. It turns out those tiny arms are actually pretty damn strong.

She rolls once when hitting the ground, before trying to pin her foe beneath her body.

By now, it's as if the young women might as well not even be there at all as far as the dinos are concerned, because two of the pachys are fighting each other, and the third can't even stand. The compys have the attention spans of seagulls, and are going back to raiding the grocery's wares.

By this point, any customers or employees left in the store have given up, and are running for the exit.

"I'm gonna just get home and shut myself up until all this dinosaur stuff goes away."

And she begins walking toward home.
