Who: Jasmine and Lily

What: Jasmine shows Lily her new studio

Jasmine was lucky she had a family as supportive as her's was. Setting up an art studio in Gateway City was more than she could have hoped for a year ago, but here she was, with her own space (she was renting, with help from her father, of course) and a chance to chart her career on her own. In many ways, she still couldn't believe it.

Of course, that was nothing compared to what Lily had going for her. She was a published author, and constantly giving interviews and speaking on behalf of the Numbered. Jasmine was proud of her sister, and she was happy for the progress she'd made on her own... but she also wasn't exactly stressed, either. She made sure her "Magical Enforce" series had material going forward for several weeks, and aside from that, her work load included some commissioned works from clients in Gateway and Christchurch. It was enough to keep her busy, but not what Lily had to deal with.

So... Jasmine wanted to do something with her sister. Just an evening for the two of them, really. Go around in Gateway, have a nice dinner, and finally show her what she'd managed to set up in her studio. As they entered said studio (which again, wasn't very big), Lily would see the space Jasmine assigned herself to work, an area for her art supplies, and some of the paintings she was working on. Several posters, featuring Jasmine's own characters, that she'd produced herself lined the walls.

Grinning, Jasmine turned to Lily. "So... what do you think?"

All things considered, especially after the week she's had, Lily is all smiles visiting her sister that day. It's good to take a load off from any of her given responsibilities, and... well, she's quite happy for her sister. For all of Jasmine's doubts and worries all that time ago, for all the horrible things she'd faced... Lily couldn't be happier for her.

As they enter the studio, her smile brightens even further, clasping her hands together and laughing a little bit. "It's wonderful, Jasmine."

She swings around, still grinning. "I'm really proud of you, you know. After everything we've been through... What you're doing is great, Jas."

Jasmine smiled at her sister's words. Honestly, knowing Lily was proud of her, knowing she liked what Jasmine was creating and building... it meant the world to her.

"Yeah, well, I couldn't have done it without you. Marina, Dad, Winter... everyone. But you've been supporting me the longest..."

"Don't give me too much credit," she says, a slight scolding-but-playful tone in her voice. She makes a turn in one place, taking the room in before settling back on her sister. "Not that I don't appreciate it, but just being first isn't enough there. You did this yourself, Jasmine."

Jasmine just chuckled, catching Lily's tone easily enough. "Aw come on, isn't 'no one can do it completely on their own' a Precure thing? I'm talking about teamwork."

But still, she nodded. "Seriously though. I get you. I'm proud of myself, though. I just acknowledge the people who helped me get here."

"Mm, it is, but just remember," she reaches over, poking her sister in the head. "I wasn't the first person who supported you, and I wasn't the last."

Their mother had always supported the both of them, and Lily herself had never been able to fully bring Jasmine around on her own.

"You're right, it was a team effort... So it's thanks to everyone else, too."

"... Well yeah," Jasmine replied, blinking as Lily poked her forehead. Then, realization dawned on her, and her expression became a little sadder.

"Mom. Sometimes... sometimes I wonder how she'd react to everything that's happened to us..."

"I used to wonder about that a lot. To the point that... I think I let it control me." She pulls her hand back, but continues to smile. "But... someone taught me that to some degree, I was worried for nothing. That Mom would be proud of me, and of us, because she always was. "

It was the anniversary of her death, in Las Vegas, when she'd had that discussion. Her smile quirks up a bit.

"Let's be honest, when it comes down to it, we would have both been pretty hopeless if we hadn't met Winter."

"... Yeah. Winter really is where everything started for us," Jasmine said with a smile. "She really helped fill the void when we found her." Then... a moment of realization hit her, and she looked towards an easel with a painting covered by a sheet.

"Hey sis, there's something I wanna show you. It's not quite finished, but it's mostly done... do you mind if I show it now?"

Lily raises an eyebrow, and then laughs, nodding along as she follows Jasmine's line of sight. "Uh, sure? That sort of thing is up to you, I know better than to interrupt an artist at work before they're ready."

"Mmm, well like you said. It's up to me. But all I have to do is make a few small touches, so..."

She put her hands over the cloth, took a deep breath, and sighed, before pulling it away. Then, she stepped away, showing the painting to Lily.

It was a painting of their mother, wearing a dress Jasmine had seen in an old family photo; one of the ones all four of them had taken together.

"So, um... what do you think?"

Lily isn't sure what she was expecting, honestly. It could have been anything. It could have been something silly or sweet or surreal. Knowing her sister, it could have been any of those things and that would have been just fine.

Instead, Lily almost immediately finds her vision blurring and she has to reach up to wipe her eyes. She sucks in a long breath, and nods, smiling.

"It's beautiful, Jasmine. Really."

Jasmine, despite being the one to have made the painting, is getting misty eyed too. She brings a hand up, wiping it away with the base of her palm.

"Th-thank you," she said. "I based it on that one family photo we took the year before she died. I remember thinking, she was so pretty that day. And... that's how I've always remembered her best, really..."

Honestly, to hear Jasmine say that's how she best remembers their mother makes Lily happy on a level she's not sure she can entirely express. Lily had been there when her life drained away, and while it's not how she tried to remember her, it had defined her for so long.

She crosses the distance to her sister, and suddenly goes to hug her, tightly wrapping arms around her neck.

"I'm glad. Really, Jas - you should be proud of yourself."

Jasmine is still wiping away years with Lily comes to hug her. She wraps her arms around her sister, resting her chin on the older woman's shoulder.

"I know, and I am," she said, quietly. "You... you think there's a place for it at you and Winter's...?"

Lily pulls back a bit, surprise washing across her face. She looks at Jasmine, then to the picture, and then back to her sister, blinking. "You mean, you wanted to give it to..."

She gives a small laugh. It's a happy one, but she nods. "I'm pretty sure we could find the room. I'd be honored, Jasmine."

Jasmine looked sheepish as she rubbed the back of her head. "That's right," she said, looking to the side. "I mean... it was supposed to be a birthday present, but it ended up running too long..."

She smiled finally, nodding. "But... I'm glad you have a place for it, then."

Lily's smile brightens, and she laughs a little. "Of course I would. I've always got a place for my loved ones, whether they're here anymore or not."

...which she realizes, is the corniest thing she's probably said this side of her own wedding. She doesn't terribly look like she cares, of course.

The corniness doesn't even register on Jasmine's radar for the time being. She's just too emotional right now to snark.

"I'm glad, then," she said. "I can't wait to see what Winter thinks of it.. I'll put some finishing touches on it this weekend and you can take it home."

"I'm sure she'll love it." Lily's sure she'd love anything Jasmine did, but... this in particular. "And hey, look on the bright side - you don't even have to worry about it getting ruined in shipping or anything."

Because having super powers you can cheat with is n ever to be underestimated.

Jasmine laughed at that. "Let's just not tell customs," she said, giving her sister a playful jab in the side with her elbow.

In any case, Jasmine was happy right now.
