So, I saw a message I couldn't reply to. It didn't have any answers, so I'm guessing the same is true of everyone else. And part of me wonders if certain people can't see it.

They mentioned that a device was moved to New Los Angeles, and it was warped and hard to read. Which makes me wonder if it's like that one message we got from that informant. But he was supposed to be dead.

I kind of feel led around by the nose, but with those freaks on the news, I want to investigate. I'll probably get the Snackies on the job too, if I can figure out how to get them through the teleporter. I know everyone's still reeling from things but... I can't ignore something like this, especially if that thing that can potentially find us is involved.

... Yeah. That's all I guess.

It is certainly . . . curious to receive another message like that, considering what we saw on the first one. [Frankly, that has Nathan a little on edge. What does that mean about the first one? Are they being led?]

Getting another message like this does make it obvious, which makes it strange that it would be done. Unless we are to believe that the killing failed rather than being staged, but that would have been incredibly sloppy.

[Why wouldn't the "killer" ensure the informant was dead, really?]

To be honest, the whole thing seemed suspicious from the start. Disturbing, but suspicious as hell.

And that's frustrating. We don't even know if the guy helping us is even on the level, or if this whole thing has been a trap from the start or not.

[At this point, it's not unusual to see Blaise wandering around the Network, trying to get to know people. Today, he sees someone he recognizes. The girl with the cool one-wing. He wonders a bit if she'll remember him, and what this strange message is.]

A...A m-message? W-wait... s-s-someone died?

[Sorry, Jasmine. He's been under a rock called Ryuzaki when the last notification about mystery things went up.]

[Jasmine does remember him, and she also knows what she observed from the network a while back. She decides to answer him, but remains guarded.]

Supposedly. Someone connected to Thunder Corp was killed trying to send some of us a message. Only a few of us could see it. At least, it looked that way. But we just got another one. Saretha Kaiser gave the details about it.

... And uh. They're creatures from my past life. They and a bunch of other creatures started popping up last month, after that message appeared. They're dumb but they listen to me, because my former self was one of their bosses or something.

[Blaise bites his lips a little at the mention of someone getting killed.]

W...wow... That's r-really sad... [He fidgets a bit, not entirely sure what to say to that.] I'm... I'm sorry.

[Best as any, right? But he seems to perk up a little as she talks about the snackies. He can't seem to resist asking.]

A-are they cute...? It's... It's kind of neat that th-they listen to you...

Uh. I don't really know if they're ugly or cute or not. They really kind of annoy me, you know?

[She sighs, and shakes her head.]

Look, calm down, okay? We don't even know if this one guy is even on our own side, or if he's playing us. We don't need to waste our tears on something so ambiguous. You're fine, alright?

[It looks like this message has caught him in the middle of eating and he's talking around a mouthful of bacon cheeseburger. He finishes off the last few bites before crumpling up the wrapper... and promptly reaching offscreen and picking up another one.]

That's my backyard. I can take a run around, see if I can find anything.

[He takes a big bite of burger number two, chewing as he talks.]

The fact is, we don't know what we're looking for. There's supposedly a device that can locate and find Numbered. We haven't seen hide nor hair of it, and don't even have an idea of what it looks like. The last message we got said it caused freaky shit to happen, and... lo and behold.

We have the place turning into a Halloween party.

[He sets the burger down for the moment and moves onto the fries. Super-sized. He has two of them.]

Yeah, been meaning to ask about the whole monster thing but I guess that answers that. Okay, so big scary machine that just got moved into town. I can handle that... how hard can something like that be to find, right?

And you'd be surprised. It was in Locke City, we were pointed in the direction of where it'd be, and nobody was able to verify. But then, we've been victims of misdirection before.
