What: Raye and Rakka's mutual birthday party, or "Jasmine sure does have a thing about throwing surprise parties for friends, huh?
Where: Shepherd's Haven, the rec building
When: Early to late evening, October 3rd

If Raye wasn't going to take her birthday seriously, Jasmine was going to make sure of it herself. What's more, Rakka's was soon as well, so it was decided to put it all together. Jasmine already had experience throwing parties, after all. I mean, she'd done the same for Winter, right?

~~A single experience is still experience, shut up.~~

In any case, though she'd been in Locke for the past several weeks, she'd returned to Shepherd's Haven for the sake of throwing this little get together. She'd gotten Marina to help her, Lily, Winter, Rakka (who was okay with not being surprised, as they needed SOMEONE to set things up with Raye)... anyone she could get a hold of to set things up in the rec building. It wasn't a really ostentatious affair, of course... there was music, there was food, there was cake, there were presents... all you needed for a birthday, really.

(There was also alcohol, but the advice to drink responsibly).

Now all they needed was the birthday girl.

Lily needs a damned break.

That much she knows, and she has no idea how much more that's going to be relevant in the weeks to come. For now, the love letter monster was quite enough. And... at least a few of the people who saw that mess are here. She tries to keep up a happy face, perfectly minding herself and basically pretending that never happened.

Because, after all! This is about her friends, and they need to enjoy that.

Jasmine is glad to see Lily here, and putting that business behind her. That thing had disturbed Jasmine too, and quite frankly, she just wanted to forget it. Right now, she was focused on having fun, and making sure everyone else had fun.

"Hey sis," she said, walking over to her sister while holding a drink. "Can I throw a party, or can I throw a party?"

One of those at the forefront of that incident was, of course, Lily's sister. Her lips twitch a bit on approach, and then she lets out a relieved breath as Jasmine proceeds to... not bring that up at all.

"Well, I can't exactly argue that. This is nice, and... they deserve it."

"Yeah," Jasmine replied with a nod. "They do. I mean, after everything in Gateway with the dinosaurs, I think something relaxing would be good for Raye."

There was a brief pause. "Uhm, though I have to wonder. How are you doing? I haven't had a chance to ask since that weird Desertrian popped up..."

Of course, she'd still have to bring it up.

Lily gives a grumpy little sigh, going to sip on her drink, closing her eyes.

"Oh, I'm fine. A-Okay. Winter and I took care of it alright." She looks over her drink, eyeing Jasmine with just one opened eye, then. "You know. By ourselves."

Okay, sure. Maybe Lily shouldn't have blown off Rakka, but Jasmine was a whole other matter.

"... I see. I know it was pretty embarrassing for you..."

Jasmine sighed, and looked to the side. "I just. I feel kind of like I let you down, Lily. I know you needed that thing beaten, but... it felt..."

Her voice trailed off. Jasmine didn't know how to answer.

Lily's expression softens, and she frowns. Mostly to herself. Suddenly she feels like a bit of a heel, even if she is still pretty annoyed.

"...sorry, Jas. It was just kind of a ... weird day. But... what do you mean, how it felt...?"

"... It didn't want to fight me," Jasmine said. "In fact, when I went after it, it seemed confused that I was the one doing it."

She looked to the side. "Tactically, it would have been sound to take advantage of it. But..."

Lily tilts her head to one side. Scrutinizing her sister. She kind of gets what she's getting at, she... thinks. Still...

"But? Jasmine, you didn't feel bad for it, did you?"

"I feel bad I let you down," Jasmine replied, quickly. "I feel like I left you hanging when you needed me."

She looked down. "But... I don't want to be the kind of person who destroys something that refuses to fight back, either."

"Lily! You made it." Rakka's happiness could almost be felt as she approached the older Precure. One of the pervading thoughts Rakka had following that.... everything that happened in Locke, was that she wouldn't make it. Thankfully, that thought was wrong.

So, she was all smiles, now that they were in a comfortable place with no monsters or love letters. "It's so nice to see you again! Are you feeling better?"

Hopefully, after punching that monster.

Lily grins nervously. Yes, she very well had wanted to just go hide in a hole for week or month or year or so, but she knew she couldn't quite get away with that. Winter would kill her, and probably everyone else would line up afterwards.

"Of course I did, I wouldn't miss this. But, ah..." She brushes a hand back through her hair, nervously. "I guess I'm fine. After... things."

"That's... good." She remarks slowly. "Really good. Maybe... going to a party is just what you needed, too."

Rakka grins, giving a bit of a nod. "Let's try and relax a little. Okay?"

She gives a stiff chuckle, nodding with some amount of enthusiasm. "I can't really disagree, although, heh..." She reaches up, brushing hair behind her ear nervously. "Sorry about how I was the other day with that... monster. It was stupid. I was stupid."

"....Ah." Right. That whole thing, she'd been wondering about that, ever since Lily decided to rush off on her own. It was hard to feel bad for her, considering how embarrassed she seemed. Jasmine and Rakka only wished to help.

"....What was going on there, anyways? Can you tell me?" She shoots Lily a concerned look. It's totally understandable if she doesn't.

"Ah-ha..." She laughs a bit, eyes darting all over the place. "It was just kind of- um, embarrassing. If I'm being honest. Do you remember ... around Valentine's Day in 2014? I don't know if you would, but I was kind of acting weird and stupid that whole day at school, and I think I ran into you at one point and it was cause, I- ah..."

She reaches up and brushes her hair back, but it's mostly to attempt (in vain) to hide her blush.

"It was because I was trying to deliver a love letter that whole day. To Winter."

"....O-oh."

Well.

She's grinning now.

"That's so sweet of you. Oh my god."

Lily's face flushes even brighter and she coughs a bit, turning her head away a little.

"W- well, you know. And then, having a monster like that pop up, it felt a little, um..." She shuffles her feet. "It threw me off, I guess."

She chuckles a small bit. "Enough that you rushed after it all on your own." Lily gets a more concerned look after that. "Did you finally take it down?"

She smiles nervously. "Right, because I was just... It was dumb. It was really dumb, and I'm sorry. You're my teammate, our powers come from the same place... I shouldn't have done that."

She laughs then, a little. "Yeah, ah. Winter found me. We beat it."

"N-no. Jokes aside, it's okay, Lily. I don't think I would have done any better if that happened to me." Which, thankfully, it hasn't. Not to say that Rakka's written love letter before, ahahah... haha....

"Oh! What a... coincidence?"

Lily scratches the side of her head, a stiff laugh coming out now.

"Ah, not so much a coincidence, so much as... I'm pretty sure a lot of my little escapade got caught on the news. It wasn't exactly... hard to find me..."

Also, why she's been laying low in public for a few days.

"Ah.... Sorry, then." Yeah, that pretty much blows.

"No, no! Don't apologize!" She laughs a bit. "I would've been dead if she hadn't shown up. Which I guess... goes more to show why I shouldn't have tried to go it alone in the first place. I know better than all that, but I guess my emotions just... got the better of me."
