Who: Invitation only, PM for details
What: Raye and Rakka's mutual birthday party, or "Jasmine sure does have a thing about throwing surprise parties for friends, huh?
Where: Shepherd's Haven, the rec building
When: Early to late evening, October 3rd

If Raye wasn't going to take her birthday seriously, Jasmine was going to make sure of it herself. What's more, Rakka's was soon as well, so it was decided to put it all together. Jasmine already had experience throwing parties, after all. I mean, she'd done the same for Winter, right?

~~A single experience is still experience, shut up.~~

In any case, though she'd been in Locke for the past several weeks, she'd returned to Shepherd's Haven for the sake of throwing this little get together. She'd gotten Marina to help her, Lily, Winter, Rakka (who was okay with not being surprised, as they needed SOMEONE to set things up with Raye)... anyone she could get a hold of to set things up in the rec building. It wasn't a really ostentatious affair, of course... there was music, there was food, there was cake, there were presents... all you needed for a birthday, really.

(There was also alcohol, but the advice to drink responsibly).

Now all they needed was the birthday girl.

"Ah, well... everyone has hidden depths?" Shrug.

"So they aren't all porn then huh?" Marina asked because what is having shame?

"Lily! You made it." Rakka's happiness could almost be felt as she approached the older Precure. One of the pervading thoughts Rakka had following that.... everything that happened in Locke, was that she wouldn't make it. Thankfully, that thought was wrong.

So, she was all smiles, now that they were in a comfortable place with no monsters or love letters. "It's so nice to see you again! Are you feeling better?"

Hopefully, after punching that monster.

"Jasmine! Thanks for putting this party together for us." And for letting her help with it. She smiles up at the Precure, before her eyes lower to the package in Jasmine's hands. It was familiar enough, as shapes went.

"For me? Thanks!" She takes it, and seeing as they're here and all, she'll just start unwrapping it.

One of those at the forefront of that incident was, of course, Lily's sister. Her lips twitch a bit on approach, and then she lets out a relieved breath as Jasmine proceeds to... not bring that up at all.

"Well, I can't exactly argue that. This is nice, and... they deserve it."

Lily grins nervously. Yes, she very well had wanted to just go hide in a hole for week or month or year or so, but she knew she couldn't quite get away with that. Winter would kill her, and probably everyone else would line up afterwards.

"Of course I did, I wouldn't miss this. But, ah..." She brushes a hand back through her hair, nervously. "I guess I'm fine. After... things."

Saretha blinks at the question for a moment, before giving a soft, barely audible chuckle. She nods a bit, crossing her arms as she leans back against the wall.

"I am fine. Really."

Jasmine couldn't help but snicker immaturely.

"No hun," she said, giggling. "They're not all porn. One I'm pretty sure is about lawyers or claims adjusters or something."

"Hey, and thank YOU for helping us do that," Jasmine replied with a laugh. "I'm glad we could surprise Raye like we did."

And now she's just going to sit back and wait for Rakka to open it.

"Yeah," Jasmine replied with a nod. "They do. I mean, after everything in Gateway with the dinosaurs, I think something relaxing would be good for Raye."

There was a brief pause. "Uhm, though I have to wonder. How are you doing? I haven't had a chance to ask since that weird Desertrian popped up..."

Amy shared a small smile with her. "Okay," she said. "It's just, this is a bit out of your wheelhouse. I wanted to make sure everything was alright."

Amy nodded, feeling a bit better that he seemed to relax in her presence. "That's good. I've actually been to a lot of benefits and parties in the last few months. It's good to come to something smaller."

She laughed softly. "So ah... have you tried the cake yet?" she asked, rather pointedly.

"Hehe... It doesn't take a lot, but I'm really happy it went well." Her smile flickers for a moment, giving the impression that something bothered her.

Ah well. The wrappings were already torn away, revealing.....

"Golden Witch Tales! I love this! Where'd you find it?"

"... I'm going to be honest," Jasmine said, laughing nervously. "I could tell you I searched high and low for it. That I visited tons of hobby and import shops. But... all I really did was buy it online..."

"That's... good." She remarks slowly. "Really good. Maybe... going to a party is just what you needed, too."

Rakka grins, giving a bit of a nod. "Let's try and relax a little. Okay?"

"....Oooooh." Regardless of how Jasmine got it, Rakka's eyes were wide with excitement over this. She chuckles a little. "That's fine too, Jasmine. I do that all the time."

"... Heh, alright," Jasmine said, chuckling. "I'm glad you like it then, Rakka. Tell me how it is, okay?"

"Have you? That makes one of us," he says. "I should really make more of an effort to get out, but..."

He trails off. Some things are more effort for some people, and brightly-lit, crowded social events didn't agree with him even back in his chess-playing days. Parties like this are about the extent of non-professional group interaction he feels like he can comfortably tolerate.

"The cake..." he scratches the back of his head distractedly. "I'm sorry, I haven't. Did you make it?"

Well, this definitely wasn't something she was ready for at all. One step into the house and suddenly lights are flicking on and people are jumping out and shouting.

"-What the?!" She jumps a little, blinking in surprise and moves by instinct, stepping in front of Rakka and settling into a stance like she expected to intercept an oncoming charge. And then she recognizes the faces yelling at her, and the decorations hanging around the place, even a big fancy cake as well. Then she finally registers what they were yelling and what's going on.

"Aw, jeez. I didn't need a party." She reaches up with one hand, rubbing the back of her neck, glancing back at Rakka. "Did you know about this?"

... She'll just tuck her miniaturized Scissor Blade back into her jacket sleeve as subtly as possible.

These things weren't really her thing either, big gatherings, celebrations and the like, particularly not ones for her. The fact that it's just as much a party for Rakka helps that out a little though. Rakka deserves it.

Still, she's doing her best but those back corners are a pretty hefty draw for her and it isn't too long before she starts gravitating toward them as well. So, before too long she wanders over and slumps back a bit to lean against the wall beside Saretha. She's silent just long enough to gulp from her drink before looking over.

"Hey."

"I will! I promise." She's going to LP the shit out of this, just you wait and see.

The game would promptly be slid into one of Rakka's pockets, to be played at a later date, when Rakka wasn't at a party with all her friends around. "By the way... Thanks for throwing the party, Jasmine. I think something's been bothering Raye lately..."

Jasmine looks forward to watching that.

What Rakka says next, Jasmine blinks at... before slowly nodding. "Yeah, I've picked up on that too, to be honest..."

"Well, you've got to do things at your own pace, Lazarus," she admitted. Then, hearing what he said, she smiled.

"I made one of them. I'm just surprised, really. You usually don't turn down or ignore sweets, is all."

Thankfully, everyone got the message, following in Rakka's signal and collectively calling out to Raye and revealing the reason why she wanted Raye to come here so badly. Yes, some small part of herself realized that surprising someone like Raye might not be a good idea. Besides moving to guard her girlfriend, like on instinct, she was taking it well! No one was injured! Everything's fine!

"Hehe. Who do you think was keeping you away from here until it was ready?" Enough of an answer, Rakka figured as she reached up to quickly peck Raye on the cheek.

"And it's for both of us, too."

It will be the best. Fun will be had, and no small amount of tears either.

Rakka's tone was quieter then before, a clear show that she was worried for her significant other. "I'm kind of worried."

...

Of course, she'd still have to bring it up.

Lily gives a grumpy little sigh, going to sip on her drink, closing her eyes.

"Oh, I'm fine. A-Okay. Winter and I took care of it alright." She looks over her drink, eyeing Jasmine with just one opened eye, then. "You know. By ourselves."

Okay, sure. Maybe Lily shouldn't have blown off Rakka, but Jasmine was a whole other matter.
