[Video] [Shepherd's Haven]

[Nux is very frequently shirtless, even when the weather's a little cold and nippy. Summer's coming in the Southern Hemisphere, so this is true even more often, but today, there's something really different about the familiar sight of his slender, well-muscled torso. It's also adorned with elaborate scarification that looks like car parts. He keeps touching and scratching at it, looking distracted and a little bit distraught.]

So, uh... people are remembering things, yeah? I was digging a hole for fenceposts and I was daydreaming, but... you know, during the day.

You... you know what I'm trying to say, right? I was there, but I wasn't there. I had this thing on my chest when I woke up, and I remembered the sort of... religion my Other had. He definitely wasn't Catholic. I think he worshiped cars, called it the Cult of the V8.

I mean, I like cars, but I don't think they're gods or anything like that.

But you offered that as a way to make me feel better, and I'm fine. This is not necessary.

[He wound up going on runs, which is bad enough. He is not weightlifting. Maybe.]

[... He really, really does not want this. The question is whether he can say so.

[Tentatively:]
Nux, I would really rather not do this.

[No, he's pretty sure if he's like that (which he inevitably would be) what he would be glad for is not having done it, but that it's over. Like how he is with the running.]

I . . . really don't want . . . [This is quite a measure of how much he doesn't want to do this that he is actually arguing about it. Timidly. Hesitantly. But still arguing.]

Generalizations like that aren't accurate. [Nathan, does logic ever get you anywhere in these conversations?]

[... What? How do these conversations always devolve into something that gives Nathan headaches?]

No . . . Not generation. Generalization. [Enunciating that second one a little more clearly.] Assuming that what is true of some members of a group is true for all of them.

When speaking of behaviours and wants, that does not happen. People are varied and even if a majority is one way, exceptions always exist.

[This is way better than weightlifting.]
