I'm sure you've all seen the news about the slime that's popping up all over. I was able to secure a sample of it this morning when I was doing my morning flyby of the reserve, and, well...

[He holds up a book. It looks like a volume of shoujo manga with the title Love Touch. It appears to be rugby-themed.]

I must say, I wasn't expecting it to turn into this.

[He flips the book open and leafs through the pages.]

It's not bad, really...not that I'm sure I want to enjoy a cup of coffee while reading a book that used to be composed of green slime.

[Yet he's still leafing through the book, and it looks as though he's about to get horribly distracted reading it.]

Well, when it turned into the book, it became easier to clean up than it was before.

[Oh, that's not a pleasant noise.]

That sounds rather unfortunate...it doesn't seem to stain things, if that's any consolation.

It did!

[Torin holds up the book for Arthur to see. It's all in Japanese, but the words Love Touch are in English on the cover, and it is a shojo manga about rugby.]

Quite fascinating how this all turned out, really.

[There's a pause.]

You may wish to remove your shoe in case that slime transforms into something.

[Though, he had to stop at something Torin said.]

Wait, what!? Transforms into something!? Like what!? [He nearly fell over, trying to rip his boot off in one quick gesture.

Then, he definitely fell over.]

I encountered a blob that turned into this. A book would be most unpleasant to have in your shoe.

[Arthur stared, a bit more uneasy.]

Tell me it ain't in alien language or something.

It's in Japanese! All perfectly normal.

[He flips through it.]

It's about rugby!

...Why the hell would it turn into a book about rugby?

[Torin, a giant man-bird, couldn't convince Arthur that slime turned into a book about rugby.]

I'm not quite sure, but it's rather fascinating. It is also a romance manga.

[And he's flipping through the book again.]

[He holds it out to show Arthur. That sure is a shoujo manga about rugby Torin has there.]

[It looked like a comic book. Arthur squinted, looking closely at the screen.]

...It's one of those Japanese anime shows? Do people wanna read about rugby this way?

People who like a little romance with their rugby would!

Rugby hasn't got romance in it!

[Actually, he hasn't seen a single rugby match in his life.]

...Right?

Well, it's a romance about a girl who becomes the manager of her school's rugby team because a boy she likes is on it.

So there's romance in this rugby!

[There was a little bit of scrutiny in Arthur, if only because he liked his stories as clear cut as possible.

He was no avid reader.]

...So how much of the book is about rugby?

A fair amount. The main character learns about it as she tries to manage the team.

[knights_king]

So, she didn't even know that much about rugby...?

[Arthur found himself in disbelief for another reason--]

That's something a guy would do.

I'm pretty sure that sort of behavior knows no gender! Attraction makes all of us do strange and unusual things.

R-Really? I thought for girls it was, like, ... cute.

For guys, it just seems weird and desperate.

[radiantchicken]

I think it depends on exactly how it's carried out--a girl can be weird and desperate, just as a guy can be cute.

Don't tell my girlfriend that...

[Not that he could ever see Emilia acting that way--or, himself, in terms of being cute.

Even though Arthur was exactly that.]

Oh, when I was a parrot, I was adorable.

[He's stroking his mustache.]

Now, I believe the word is more cool.

[And he's laughing at that.]

Hmmm. I might have made a mistake.

[Arthur was smiling in return, a little amused by Torin's curt response.]

I might want to avoid giving people chances to compliment themselves too quickly...
