Misa hurries to keep up, not wanting to let go of him or give herself a moment to let temptation win and look back. She doesn't want to leave— no, she does. A remnant of her Other may not want to leave the ghostly apparition behind, but that is exactly what Misa wants. She concentrates on wanting it all the harder.

"I echoed it back," she says breathlessly, heart beating fast in her ears from nerves and trying to stay alongside Lazarus's much longer steps. She doesn't want to think about all the lies that are about to come crumbling down or about the Pandora's box that she is opening by telling him this, she just wants to prove her loyalty to him.
