043 ♦ video + action
At some point, it occurs to Winter that Christmas is at the end of this week. And with her time being spent in faraway cities - and at big book promotion events in her off-time from that - there isn't going to be a whole lot of time left for shopping. Or, for that matter, for spending quality time with Lily before it gets too cold to take her anywhere fun without being buried in eight layers of jacket and at least two scarves. That means things are going to have to be expedited... and Winter knows one very good place for that.
She knows where it is. She happens to be able to get there without any effort whatsoever, thanks to the ornate jewelry box her wife had appropriated from her past self. And she knows it's going to be a good way to spend a day without having to worry about... well, any of the concerns that are trying hard to dampen her mood. She could even bring some of her friends. And perhaps accidentally lose them, somewhere between the stalls and the cafés and the plush toys as big as she is. Buy some things, covertly disappear into a heart-shaped, rainbow-colored portal back to her house to drop them off, come back, have a good time. It's something she needs. Something all of them have needed, for a while now. Everything is so crazy these days, a break is important.
That's what convinces her to make a short post to the network, right at the end of the month, and after they've had some time to explore New LA. It's nothing special, shot from a hotel not far from where one or two other people she knows are Numbered are staying. "Hi, everyone," she starts, calm and collected and a little cheery. "I know things have been kind of rough, and Christmas is soon, so... I thought it would be a good time to do a little shopping in a kind of special place, and it'll be a fun chance to hang out and let loose for a little bit, too. So, um!"
She pauses a second, clapping her hands in front of her while she gets her thoughts in line. She's digging into her memories a little bit; a couple other things happening around that time dulled a couple of the less-critical things. "I don't know if anyone remembers, back when our investigation turned to Neuschwanstein Castle and its surrounding area, but in the middle of everything, we took a little side trip, outside the boundary. Ms. Bonbright, an ally after some previous events, chartered a bus for us to go to the Christmas Market, in Nuremberg. It was a fun trip, and it was a really nice place... and I think it might be high time for us to go back. The time's right, and it shouldn't be too crowded yet - or too cold." She laughs softly. "Since certain people I know aren't fans of anything a sensible person might want a sweatshirt for.
"Anyway, I'd like to go back. And since there's no teleporter, and we can't exactly take a bus from any of our usual haunts, I think I'll just force the issue. We'll open up a portal, with the Heartcatch Mirage. And that'll be how we get there. If anyone wants to come, let me know - we can meet up, or I can swing by and get you before we go. Without the barriers, it'll be a little bit more of an interesting trip, and less disorienting, so..." Winter smiles softly. "I say we make some memories, since there isn't anything that can take them away from us. And I can get my last-minute gift shopping done, too. Being able to just drop small loads off at home freely is a big help. It'll just be a day trip, not that teleportation is bound by mundane things like time or traffic. Anyone that wants to come is welcome, though I know I'd like some company myself, so... I hope to hear from you soon!" She waves lightly as she cuts the feed.
Winter doesn't have a lot of time to push the trip back much further, so it's scheduled for the next day; it's short notice, but that's what she gets for waiting this long. Anyone that expressed interest is going to get a visit from a girl with blue hair and a frilly dress, and a growing line of people with each stop. Eventually, when the line contains everyone it needs to, she opens one last heart-shaped gate. This one opens onto a back alley in Nuremberg, somewhere she can't lead the team onto someone's back by accident, and she ushers everyone else through before following them and gesturing in the right direction as she pops back into civilian form, the tail of a scarf fluttering as it falls and waves in the wind. "Okay, we're here! I'll be hanging around the square if you need me, and my phone is on me if you can't find me - use the network, that has service - but this isn't a field trip. Go off and home some fun, and I'll round everyone up a little after dark to head home. If anyone wants to come with me, of course, I'd love it, but for those that don't, enjoy the afternoon."
((Winter is mostly just bringing people out to recreate the experience from two years ago; once everyone's in Nuremberg, her intent is for everyone to split up, so make your own top-levels and poke around! She'll have a separate top-level, and she's also willing to shuttle people other places - perhaps home to drop off an armful of stuff. Poke me if you have questions!))
