Echo Incursion: Monsters Walk the Earth
New Los Angeles. A city that was a shell of its former self. While Locke City, on the other end of the continent, had mostly risen from the ashes, Los Angeles as still a ruin and home to those few people who had managed to escape the destruction that devastated half of their country. Lawlessness and corruption ruled the streets, between both the groups of criminals and the military that kept the peace.
But it seemed things were finally beginning to change, here. Construction was going on in the heart of the city, which brought jobs. The governing body seemed to have a task that they could build towards, instead of simply chafing against the might of general Miller. It seemed that with this, that even with much work to be done, the long nightmare was soon to be over.
... At least, that's what it seemed like, until October ended.
It began in the areas that once played host to the film industry's studios and backlots, but soon spread out to the entire city. Halloween had passed, but it seemed almost like the fixation on the macabre had brought something terrible to life. Creatures that looked like they'd literally been born out of old black and white monster films stalked the city, like grim reminders of L.A.'s former glory. By Sunday, the news reached the national stage, with video footage of the apparitions being spread around like wildfire.
The governor made a statement, stating that General Miller and his forces would do everything in their power to deal with these things. That New L.A. had been dealing with monsters of a sort already. As such, increased patrols began in earnest from the eighth onward. But for that time, the danger would come not just from them, or the various progressive forms of the Vermini (which were also present in the city), but from the creatures of the night that now walked the city's ruined streets.
[OOC: Please refer to the plot post for any details and specifics for the event, and the beastiary for any details on the Vermedi/Vermini.

Rakka wasn't as connected to the western United States as some of her friends may have been - which isn't to say that she wasn't concerned about their plight, no! She was just a foreigner, who had spent most of her time in the east coast. She had always wanted to see California though.... but not like this.
She lands in a street that's oddly barren of, well, anything and begins to walk. Everywhere, there was danger, and not necessarily of the monster kind. It's not long before she finds someone attempting to shoplift during the chaos, and that is quickly put a stop to, much to the thanks of the owners. And Rakka is on her way again
"Okay, we just need to find whatever it is they moved here." She murmurs to herself, eventually crossing an alleyway... that growled at her.
"...." She gulped, eyeing the dark passage. "Umm... hello?"
B: Wildcard
[Rakka's around the city, trying to help where she can. Maybe you've run into her?]

"Okay..." Rakka huffed and puffed, fists clenched as she stood off against her foe. One wolf was down, but two more were still up, and eyeing the Haibane like a chicken wing. "You're not going to hurt these people, I won't let-Waah!"
And... there's a golf club. And then Mina. Rakka had hardly expected... anything of the sort from the fashionista. It brought her own attack to a stumbling stop, and the beasts seemed almost equally confused.
no subject
"Take that!" And that isn't enough for her so she follows up with another and another, striking at the head. She's really getting into it, to a scary extent.
no subject
"Uh... M-mina...?" She speaks up tentatively. The wolfman wasn't even attacking anymore.

If Rakka doesn't stop her, she's going to be pursing the last werewolf.
no subject
Rakka isn't going to stop you.
no subject
"Not fair!"

"Mina...!" She finally caught up, confusion plain on her face. "That was..."

While she's not specifically following Rakka or anything, she's just across and a little down the street as she walks by an alley.
Curious, she turns back around, watching. Nothing better pop out and eat her.
no subject
Marina goes undetected by Rakka's radar as she peers down the alley. It's possibly a good thing, as Rakka might have been distracted.
There's more sounds from the alley, scrapes and odd cries. Rakka looks just about ready to pounce when, out of the shadows pops...!
...A black cat that scampers away with its tail between its legs.
Still gets Rakka to jump embarrassingly high.
no subject
Marina is definitely paying attention to Rakka and whatever she's checking out, though, stepping closer and summoning her sword just in case things go south fast.
She almost snaps and fires off a spell when something darts between Rakka's legs, but when she sees her friend leaping away from a cat in terror, she bites her lip for a moment - before busting out laughing, giving herself away as she leans on her sword to support herself.
no subject
Which Rakka immediately hears and turns around, giving Marina a completely flustered look. Face red, blushing from embarrassment, she called out. "D-don't laugh!"

"....Hehe." Alright, she received a sheepish chuckle. "Y-you never know what's going to pop out at you!"

"T-thanks. I'm trying to keep an eye out, but it sounds like there's monsters everywhere!" She unconsciously runs a hand through her messy hair. "It feels like the city is full of them."

Sadly, she'd been turned away just as much as she'd been given a chance. She'd ended up frustrated. So now... now, she was trying to blow off some steam. And she'd found it: A group of undead who'd been trying to accost some civilians.
Of course, she couldn't cut loose. She didn't know how alive these guys were. She had to pull her punches, even if they seemed pretty fragile. In any case, it was loud, and probably something Rakka would hear if nearby.
no subject
Sadly, it was a bit too late for that, but she could still lend a hand to the populace as monsters made life very difficult for them. Nothing a Precure couldn't tackle, though, as was their duty.
Amidst the groans and moans of the undead was Rakka's shouting as she got close, skidding to a stop before her friend and the unruly monster mob before lashing out. A punch directed at one of the monsters should knock them out clean.
no subject
The zombie Rakka hit went flying, the force of the punch knocking one of its arms clean from its undead body. Groaning, the zombie picked itself, shuffling as if it hadn't just lost a limb.
The limb itself... faded from existence completely.
"... Feather!" Jasmine explained, as she saw her friend in the midst of warding off a creature's bite. "Nice to see you!"
no subject
Truthfully, Rakka should have probably been more excited about punched a literal movie monster. It was basically a living fanfiction she was punching her way through.... but grosser. Way grosser.
Oh god. It lost a limb. Thank goodness it just disappeared though.
"Twilight!" Okay, codenames then. Rakka could roll with that as she pushed away another zombie. "Nice to see you too! How's it going here?"
no subject
She frowned, casually blasting several of them away so she could give herself and Rakka some breathing room. "Have you noticed they don't... really seem to be all HERE?"
no subject
"I know, it's like the whole city's turned into a haunted house." She added, skirting around one or two of the monsters, and pushing one away.
"Uh, yeah? I thought it was just some light messing with my eyes, at first. But then it kept happening..."
no subject
She grabs Rakka's shoulders, and tries to pull her away from the fighting, and then carry her to a nearby rooftop where the zombies can't reach.
no subject
Rakka wouldn't get used to others picking her up and flying around, but she's calmer now then she was as they set down on the rooftop of a building. She regains her footing like a pro and gazes down at the street.
"...Um, shouldn't we be down there, protecting the civilians?"
