Shepherd's Haven Event: Devil's Night
Who: Damon the doppelganger and OPEN TO ANY IN SHEPHERD'S HAVEN
What: Devil has an announcement to make in the form of arson and violence. Aforementioned player plot shenanigans.
Where: Shepherd's Haven
When: Forward dated to the night of October 30th, and probably into the morning of the 31st. Devil's night, in other words.
Status: Open with some closed-ish subthreads!
Warnings: Arson and violence?
No night had ever been so aptly named.
Shepherd's Haven wasn't anywhere near Michigan, but that didn't mean the festivities of Devil's Night couldn't be spread to far and wide locales. It was the perfect night, in fact, for the creature known as a demon to remind the sleepy little haven of precisely why it was unwise to prod the beast. Perhaps the one who called him there had forgotten, or perhaps he simply thought the devil had more bark than bite.
Oh, how wrong he was.
It began with fire. Several fires, to be precise. Small at first but fed with whatever accelerant Damon could find on hand. Fuel left unguarded, dry hay or straw. Did you know compost burns very well? It does, oh how it burns. And each fire set at different locations across the town, so quickly and so close to simultaneous one might almost think that they were set by several people at once.
Or one that could move very, very quickly.
The cherry on top was a door with a fading red "X" painted on it, ripped from its hinges and set ablaze, then left on the steps in front of the town hall.
[[OOC: Leaving this fairly open for anyone to react to and have their own threads/etc. of what's happening. Separate threads will go up for some more planned stages of the event, but if anyone wants to beunfortunate enough to run across Damon while he pursues his arsonist rampage through SH go ahead and put up a toplevel and just toss in the comment header that you want me.
Have fun dealing with those fires and rampaging demon, guys!]]

Damon stalks after him. In no particular hurry, he doesn't need to be after all, but is more than close enough to stop him from any further attempts at casting. The first trick had been lucky, it won't work a second time.
When Jacob falls Damon moves to loom over him, sword still held loose and ready at his side. He scowls down at the man, expression one of obvious disgust. "Pathetic," He rumbles, eyes narrowing. It would be so easy to remove his useless head from his body, leave him twitching on the ground as a grim reminder of what happens to those who cross him.
But it almost isn't worth the effort. Jacob was never a threat from the start. And even if he is annoying and weak, he'll serve a purpose yet. "I should stain this ground with your blood to commemorate your weakness." The sword flicks up, tip held just beneath his chin. "Instead I will let you live, and this night will will remind you that you are powerless against the might of a demon."

Jacob feels the cold of the metal tap under his chin and he twitches his head up a little, instinctively avoiding the sharp tip. His eye narrows in a glare as Damon mocks him further. He literally bites on his tongue, holding back the army of retaliating words he feels burning at the tip. Lest he changes Damon's mind into sparing him. However, his expression shows clearly how much he loathes Damon, and not being strong enough to stop this monster here. He feels his teeth practically cutting into his tongue.
He continues to glare at Damon, unflinching. He's unsure whether he should wait for Damon to leave or if he's able to get up and leave himself. Very slowly, he starts to stand back up, judging for Damon's reaction, and trying to keep himself steady.

Today is Jacob's lucky day. The sword lowers when Jacob finally gets the nerve up to start moving, and just as quickly and smoothly as it had been flicked out to threaten it's pulled back in, casually returned to his side as if nothing had just transpired.
"Get out of my sight." He snaps, urging Jacob to run along now. Go warn the other sheep.

He watches as the sword is returned to Damon's side, silent, releasing just a bit of the tension in his shoulders. He takes a few steps backward. He turns away at Damon's dismissal, watching Damon from the corner of his eye before judging it safe enough to keep his back turned to the monster. He starts to walk away, trying to keep his legs steady. He'd jog if he could, but he still feels a little weak from the battle. So, instead, he does his best to walk, head up, shoulders back. If he can't run, might as well walk dignified.
