[Memory Event/Video] Washed in Scarlet

Celine blinked, straightening up, looking around in confusion. This... most certainly wasn't her place of work. She found herself in a bedroom. One she recognized but one that was also very foreign to her. She had a tray folded under one arm, dressed in old but formal maid attire. Her left leg felt heavy, weighed down by a heavy leather garterbelt like strap containing a wickedly large knife. ... That's right... She had just served tea to her lady... Wait what?

"Chaton...?" Celine snapped to attention, a little chill creeping up her spine. Sitting at an ornate table was what appeared to be a little girl, her wings folded carefully to fit on either side of the chair, tips brushing the ground. She was staring out a tall window, floor to ceiling, the light of the crimson moon filtering dimly inside and casting faint shadows. The room was impossibly lavish with a four poster bed with heavy curtains tied back with silk ropes. A heavy ornate bookshelf filled with knick-knacks and thick tomes. A vanity neatly stocked and organized. A chest of drawers. A closet cabinet. Everything was an image of wealth and class.

"Are you ready for the move? Patchy has been working so hard it will be nice to see her rest for once. And we'll finally be free of this wretched land and its people. Truthfully I've never been so far east in my many years. I believe it will be quite an exciting venture. Gensokyo. It has quite an interesting ring to it, doesn't it?" Her voice was familiar... "Are you excited Ma Petit Chaton? To carve out a piece of this new land for yourself? I know I am."

A pale, clawed hand reached across the table, lifting a single cube of sugar and dropped it into a steaming cup. She stirred once with a silver spoon before setting it to the side and bringing it to her lips. Celine said nothing. This... Had to be an echo, right?

"Chaton..." Celine stiffened. "Your heart is fluttering like a bird." There was a long pause, the childlike vampire inclining her head somewhat, one red eye visible around side the high backed chair. "Is there something you wish to tell me?"

"No, M'lady..." The formal address was almost subconscious. "I'm just excited, as you said. You know me far too well." Lips drew back over fangs as the vampire turned her attention back to the window. "Excellent. See to it that my sister is fed and placated before the spell truly begins. Else we may end up with half a home."

A hand raised in a dismissive gesture. Celine swallowed, bowing nervously before turning to leave, her presence cutting through the fabric of space and time as she crossed the room to the door, grasped the handle, and pulled it silently open.

* * *

Celine blinked, having bumped into a wall, stumbling a short ways. She turned looked quickly around the room, to the concerned faces of her co-workers, her own pale as a sheet. The break room? She steadied herself, looking around once more. So... It was an echo then... She let out a long sigh, shoulders relaxing. It took some prodding but Celine returned home early, still somewhat shaken, her entire body aching faintly. It had all seemed so real.

Celine was sitting on the edge of her bed, looking tired and rubbing one of her temples. "I just had the most bizarrely real echo. It was more like a hallucination. Nothing overly traumatic, fortunately, but it was apparently enough to have me sent home from work early. Considering the activity on the network I'm assuming I'm not the only one...?"
